The floating Christmas tree in Rio de Janeiro's Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas has become an iconic symbol of the city. In 2012, the tree stood 279 feet tall, making it the tallest floating Christmas tree in the world according to Guinness. It is constructed from 542 tons of material supported by 11 floating barges and features over 3 million lights and 394,000 feet of rope lighting controlled by 100 LED spotlights. The tree displays designs representing the four seasons with a focus on Christmas.
