Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the Jewish council who believed in God's kingdom, obtained Jesus' body after crucifixion. He wrapped the body in linen with spices according to Jewish burial customs and placed it in his own rock-hewn tomb, closing the entrance with a large stone.
