Job had all the qualifications (blameless, upright, fear – awe of God and turned away from evil) which gained him the eligibility for “recall” by the Lord. Satan is not the Tempter, we are ourselves to blame for our weaknesses and it is also one of our weaknesses to put blame on others.

God directly intervened in many ways in the lives of people throughout Genesis, demonstrating His active involvement. Some of the ways He intervened included having fellowship, giving judgments and prophecies, blessing people, guiding them, enabling new births, and protecting them. His interactions show His attributes of providing, protecting, guiding, and discussing His plans. People are called to have faith, obedience, purity and patience in response. The Holy Spirit is portrayed as the giver and sustainer of life, an inspirer of talents, and a guide for leaders. Sensitivity to the Spirit draws people to God while hardness turns them away.
God was actively involved in the lives of biblical figures in many ways, as seen from examples in Genesis. These include walking and talking with people, judging and warning of destruction, giving prophecies, blessing families, guiding individuals, opening wombs, and protecting the innocent. People's role was to have faith in God, obey him, remain in touch with him, and remain pure. The Holy Spirit gave and sustained life, guided leaders, endowed talents, and could harden or humble people based on their response. A greater outpouring of the Spirit may coincide with greater consecration to God.

Fall Of Man And Salvation In Jesus Christtychicus12
The document discusses the fall of man from a biblical perspective. It argues that Lucifer introduced a new, non-creating speech through the serpent that deceived Eve into disobeying God's word. By eating the fruit, Eve and later Adam fell from relying only on God's creating word to a state of sin where they were subject to death and separation from God. However, God used the fall for his purposes and provided salvation through Jesus Christ, his word made flesh.

It also summarizes Jeremiah's message of impending divine judgment for Israel's sins and God's promise of a new covenant and restoration under a righteous ruler from David's line.
Satan used deception and fear to convince Adam and Eve to sin. He deceived Eve by questioning God and implying the forbidden fruit was good, using a talking serpent to sow doubt about God's warning. Eve was deceived but Adam was not, choosing to eat the fruit out of fear of losing Eve and not trusting God had a solution. Satan will use the same tactics of deception through signs and wonders, and coercion through fear of losing basic needs, to deceive people at the end of time in opposing God.

1) Learning to trust God for sustenance during a drought at Cherith brook where ravens feed him.
2) Facing spiritual warfare in Zarephath where he exercises authority over a widow's dead son.
3) Confronting King Ahab and calling down fire from heaven on Mount Carmel to end the drought.
Exhausted after this, Elijah flees and finds rest under a broom tree where angels feed him twice, restoring his strength for 40 days.

YAH reveals a remnant seven thousands have not bowed to the image of Baal (false god-Romans 11:4; 1 King 19:14). Sadly, vast amount of Hebrew Israelites demonstrated a hardening of the heart, which means deafness, blind, and numbness to spirituality. YAH has established a special relationship with Israel whereas through them the world would come to know Yahweh. Salvation is to the Hebrews first, the chosen I have given my spoken Word.
This document discusses how reading and meditating on the Bible protects Christians from darkness and demons. It notes that the earth in Genesis 1 was initially formless and empty, in darkness, but the Spirit of God hovered over the waters. Similarly, when a person's heart is empty of God's word, darkness can enter. But filling one's heart with the Bible draws the Spirit of God and dispels darkness. Backsliding from regularly reading the Bible can allow demons to regain a foothold. Christians must guard their hearts by continuing to take in God's word.
The document discusses the story of Jonah from the Bible and lessons that can be learned from it. It describes how Jonah did not want to preach to Nineveh, the Assyrian capital, because they were enemies of Israel. However, after being swallowed by a great fish, Jonah obeyed God and preached to Nineveh. The people of Nineveh repented, which made Jonah angry. God used this story to teach Jonah and others about showing true love and compassion for enemies.
For Teenagers: When Things Go Wrong - WorshipChris Yeo
The document discusses how worshipping God is important when things go wrong based on the Book of Job. It notes that there is more to reality than what meets the eye, as God sets boundaries on suffering even for Job. Worshipping God means praising Him no matter one's circumstances, as Job did after losing everything by acknowledging that everything belongs to God.

empathy, What is empathy, the human condition Who has empathy and how to hav...franktsao4
Empathy is a psychological and philosophical name used to take care of patients, but there is no such word in the Bible whether it is in Chinese or English. And God created each person differently, plus each person's family of origin, their experience after birth is different, and there are differences between men and women. So it is actually difficult or almost impossible for a person to understand what other people are going through. But God knows everyone, so if we have empathy, we must pay close attention to god. Hence, we rely heavily on God to use his mighty power to allow us to have empathy, so I will give an example of empathy at the end.
This document provides background information on Jonah and the sailors and Ninevites mentioned in the Book of Jonah. It discusses how Jonah was from a godly family, had a relationship with God, and was called to be a prophet and go to Nineveh. However, Jonah was reluctant and barely obeyed God. The sailors feared God after their ordeal with the storm at sea. The Ninevites believed Jonah's message, fasted, and humbled themselves in repentance. The document suggests we should emulate humility and ensure our preferences do not override God's mission for our lives.
1. The document discusses the story of Job from the Bible, who endured great suffering and loss but did not curse God. It examines how Job maintained his faith and integrity despite his wife urging him to curse God.
2. It notes how the story shows that suffering is not necessarily a sign of God's punishment or lack of faith, and that God's ways are higher than humans can understand.
3. The document suggests that like Job, believers should face hardship with humility, trusting that God is sovereign over all things even if God's reasons remain unknown.
1. The document discusses the story of Job from the Bible, who endured great suffering and loss but did not curse God. It examines how Job maintained his faith and integrity despite his struggles.
2. Key points made include that Job accepted both good and bad as coming from God, and that he worshiped God in his suffering rather than blaming him.
3. The overall message is that Job's example can teach us humility in accepting things we cannot understand and trusting in God's sovereignty rather than accusing him.
The document discusses the origin of sin according to Christian teachings and the consequences of Adam and Eve's disobedience in the Garden of Eden. It states that sin originated when they ate the forbidden fruit after being deceived by the serpent. The consequences of their sin included losing their innocence, relationship with God, and perfect relationship with each other. It also led to pain, struggle, and death. The document compares the traditional African views of evil to biblical concepts of sin, noting similarities like both seeing disobedience as the source and curses resulting in misfortune.
The document discusses the book of Habakkuk from the Bible. It summarizes that Habakkuk, a prophet, was distressed by the injustice and violence in Judah. When Habakkuk cried out to God for help, God responded that He would use the Babylonians to punish Judah for their sins. Habakkuk struggled to understand this unexpected answer from God. The document then examines how Habakkuk waited for further revelation from God and counseled that when God's answers do not meet expectations, believers should remember God's character, relate to Him personally, ask for understanding, and accept His discipline.
The document provides a summary of key themes and lessons from the Book of Job in the Bible. It discusses:
1. Job deals with the problem of human suffering and why a loving God would allow suffering. While Job questions God about his suffering, the book ultimately explains that evil and Satan are the source of suffering, not God, and that God cares for Job and will remedy his situation.
2. The existence of nature and logic point to there being a Creator God. The complexity and design seen in nature and the world could not have occurred by chance but require an intelligent designer.
3. While it is hard to accept God's goodness in the face of evil and suffering in the world, the final
Don't waste your times of suffering. Suffering has the power to change us into our true identity as followers of a suffering Messiah who "learned obedience by the things which he suffered." (Hebrews 5:8) Here are some lessons I have learned about times of suffering.

The Origin of Evil. Understanding the meaning behind the symbols in the story of Adam and Eve. Why it is still relevant in our modern times. Understanding it means coming to know what the original sin is and what we can do about it.
Elihu joins Job's friends in debating with him and attempts to make Job reflect on his supposed sin through a long speech. Elihu defends God's character in allowing Job's suffering, arguing that God is punishing Job for some hidden sin. However, the lesson notes there is a third party involved in Job's suffering - the devil was attacking Job to make him stop trusting God. Ultimately, there are many unanswered questions in Job's story, as there are things humans cannot understand about God's dealings. The main lesson is that believers must trust in God even when they don't understand His purposes.
The document provides an overview of wisdom literature and poetry in the Old Testament. It discusses the main wisdom books of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon. It explains that wisdom literature delves into questions about pain, God, wisdom, life, and love rather than advancing the story of Israel. It also describes the different genres of wisdom literature like proverbs, riddles, and discussions. Additionally, it gives background on the book of Job and examines questions it raises about the problem of suffering and God's justice.
The document announces a Men's Fellowship meeting on November 20th at 5:30pm at Golden Corral. It then provides several Bible passages from 1 John and discusses how to identify false prophets and spirits. Specifically, it explains that any spirit that denies Jesus Christ coming in the flesh is not from God, while spirits that affirm this are from God. It encourages readers to test all spirits against what is said in the Bible.
Satan challenges God by saying that Job is only faithful because of the blessings God has given him. God allows Satan to take Job's possessions and children but not harm Job. Messengers tell Job that raiders have taken his livestock and servants, and a wind has killed his children. Job tears his clothes and worships God, saying "The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away" without blaming God.

Today's SS lesson, "Living As Strangers". We Christians are to be in the world, looking to love and point people to God's grace by our examples and our genuine good deeds. We first must reject falseness (the old life) in our own lives, then we will be free to be Jesus servants by others
Ignorance is the spring of misery. Through ignorance one suffers afflictions and incurs great danger. Ignorance has its origin in covetousness. As covetousness grows, ignorance also grows. Ignorance exists there where covetousness exists.

Brother, there are three evils most formidable of all: lust, anger and greed. The weapons of greed are desire and hypocrisy, of lust naught but woman; while anger’s weapon is harsh speech: so declare the great sages after deep thought. Woman is God's wonderful creation but to lust after her is not desirable.
Ansuya to Sita on Wifely Virtues from the Epic 'Ramayana' by Tulsi Das Ji. • The woman who deceives her husband and loves a paramour is cast for a hundred cycles into the worst hell known as Raurava. Who is as depraved as the woman who for the sake of a moment’s pleasure reckons not the torment that shall endure for a thousand million births?

Due to their natural disposition women cannot be regarded as offenders. It is the men who should be stained with guilt of any wrongdoing to women. A wonderful discourse from the Epic 'Mahabharata'.
Women are said to be naturally sinful and the root of all evil according to ancient Hindu scriptures. The celestial being Panchachuda lists the many faults of women as understood in these scriptures, such as their inability to remain faithful, their constant desire for new male companions, and their lack of restraint even for husbands who treat them well. Women are seen as inherently lacking self-control and morality. Originally, women were created virtuous, but Brahma later created the current form of women with the aid of illusion to instill in them lust, desire, and inability to be restrained in order to stop humanity's progression towards godhood.
Celibacy 4 - Right Company and Firm DecisionPardeep Sehgal
The sexual impulse has been there for countless lives, and you never know when it will rise again. Therefore, it is important to remain in the right company. If you go out of right company, because of the existing impulse, sexuality will start to sprout all over again.
What is nischaya (determined decision)? Nischaya means, no matter how powerful an army of worldly difficulties arises with attacks, you would not back off.
What is nischaya? It is to stop all other thoughts and come onto only one thought. If you make a firm decision, all the evidences will come together and make it happen. If your decision is not firm then the evidences will not come together and your goal will not be accomplished.
True understanding is one that produces results. All other understanding is unfruitful.
Mind, intellect, chit and ego should remain in brahmacharya. And if mind, intellect, chit and ego turn towards brahmacharya, then the external sexuality will shed off automatically.
The illusion of sex is such that it will sink all, even the one who thinks that he has no attachment to anything in the world. This illusion of sex has sunk great sages and masters from tremendous spiritual heights.
Celibacy 2 - Means of Attaining BrahamacharyaPardeep Sehgal
This document discusses different means of attaining brahmacharya or celibacy. It states that jnana (spiritual knowledge) and finding the right guru are necessary for controlling sexual desires and achieving brahmacharya. Mere external restraints like avoiding marriage are not sufficient, as the root causes of sexuality lie in ignorance. Only by uprooting this ignorance through jnana can one truly attain freedom from sexual impulses and desires. The cycle of rebirth will continue until one seeks out a true master to help achieve liberation from this ignorance.
Celibacy 1 - The Detailed Analysis of SexualityPardeep Sehgal
Brahmacharya means control of the Veerya. The vital force or Veerya is preserved only by one who is established in the practice of Brahmacharya. The vital fluid or semen is lost and wasted during sexual indulgence.
From food comes juice or chyle; from chyle comes blood and flesh; from flesh comes fat; from fat comes bones; from bones come marrow. Lastly, from marrow comes semen.
The Veerya comes out of the very marrow concealed in the bones. It is found in a subtle state in all the cells of the body. Mark here how precious the semen is! It is the last essence of food. It is the essence of essences.
In Yoga Shastra it is stated: "The falling of semen brings death; the preservation of it gives life." 'The nemesis of reproduction is death. The sexual act is essentially katabolic (or a movement towards death) in the male, and in parturition of the offspring it is katabolic for the female.'
"The future is for the nations who are chaste". Tom Mann
Listen! Rama, I am now telling you the secret of accomplishment. Of all the requisites for wisdom, Divine Grace is the most important. He who has entirely surrendered himself to the Goddess (Pure Consciousness by devotion through a true Guru) is sure to gain wisdom readily. Rama! This is the best of all the methods.
This method does not require other aids to reinforce its efficiency, as other methods do for accomplishing the end. This is hard for those whose minds are directed outward; and it is easy, sure and quick for devotees engrossed in the Goddess of the Self to the exclusion of all else.
My concrete form is the eternal couple - the Supreme Lord and Energy - always in undivided union and abiding as the eternal consciousness pervading the three phenomenal states of waking, dream and sleep, and reclining on the cot whose four legs are Brahma (the Creator), Vishnu (the Protector), Siva (the Destroyer) and Isvara (Disappearance) and whose surface is Sadasiva (Grace) which is contained in the mansion known as 'fulfilment of purpose' enclosed by the garden of 'Kadamba' trees in the jewel island situated in the wide ocean of nectar surrounding the cosmos and extending beyond.
|
Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, Isvara, Sadasiva, Ganesa, Skanda, the gods of the eight quarters, their energies, other gods, celestials, serpents and other superhuman beings are all manifestations of myself. However, people do not know ME because their intellect is shrouded in ignorance.
I grant boons to those who worship ME. There is no one besides ME worthy of worship or capable of fulfilling all desires.
ADS6 - Different States of the Wise (Jnanis)Pardeep Sehgal
What kind of effort can avail to disclose the eternally self-resplendent consciousness?
|
• Being coated with a thick crust of infinite vasanas (dispositions), it is not easily perceived.
• The incrustation must first be soaked in the running stream of mind control and carefully scraped off with the sharp chisel of investigation.
• Then one must turn the closed urn of crystal quartz - namely, the mind cleaned in the aforesaid manner - on the grinding wheel of alertness and finally open the lid with the lever of discrimination.
• Lo! The gem enclosed within is now reached and that is all!
Intellects are the cumulative effects of the predispositions acquired by karma. Effort is necessary so long as the predispositions continue to sway the intellect
Diversity is visible only in space, and this space is in the Self, which in turn projects it at the moment when differentiation starts although it is not then clear. Rama! Look within.
|
• What you perceive as space within is the expanse wherein all creatures exist, and it forms their ‘Self’ or consciousness.
• What they look upon as space is your ‘Self’.
• Thus, the ‘Self’ in one is space in another, and vice versa.
• The same thing cannot differ in its nature.
• Therefore there is no difference between space and ‘Self’ - which is full and perfect Bliss-Consciousness.
The strongest fetter is the certainty that one is bound. It is as false as the fearful hallucinations of a frightened child. Even the best of men cannot find release by any amount of efforts unless his sense of bondage is destroyed.
An aspirant for wisdom first turns away from the pleasures of life and absorbs himself in the search for knowledge, which he learns from a master. This is hearsay knowledge.
In order to experience it, he ponders over it and clears his doubts. Then he applies the knowledge to himself and tries to feel his immortal being transcending the body, mind, etc., he succeeds in feeling his Self within.
Later he remembers the teaching imparted by his Guru that the Self being unqualified, cannot be differentiated from God and experiences his unity with the Universal Self. This is in short the course of wisdom and liberation.
If you infer its eternal light, then closely investigate whether the light is of itself or not. Everybody fails in this investigation however learned and proficient he may be, because his mind is not bent inward but restlessly moves outward.
|
• As long as thoughts crop up, so long has the turning inward of the mind not been accomplished.
• As long as the mind is not inward, so long the Self cannot be realised.
• Turning inward means absence of desire.
• How can the mind be fixed within if desires are not given up?
Therefore become dispassionate and inhere as the Self. Such inherence is spontaneous (no effort is needed to inhere as the Self). It is realised after thoughts are eliminated and investigation ceases.
ADS2 - Cosmic Intelligence and Reality of the UniversePardeep Sehgal
All that is seen has an origin and there must therefore be an antecedent cause for it.
If a thing can appear without a cause there is no relation between cause and effect, and there can be no harmony in the world. A potter's work may lead to a weaver's products, and vice versa, which is absurd. Each occurrence must have a cause for it; that is the rule.
The universe must have a Creator, and He must be an intelligent principle, but He cannot be of any known type because of the vastness of the creation. His power is past understanding and is dealt with in the Scriptures, whose authority is incontrovertible.
This whole universe consisting of the mobile and the immobile, arises from, abides in, and resolves into Him. This is the final and well-known conclusion of the Scriptures; and the Scriptures never err. The guide by which one can apprehend the metaphysical and transcendental matters is Scripture alone.
ADS1 - The Story of Hemalekha and HemachudaPardeep Sehgal
Investigation is the root-cause of all, and it is the first step to the supreme reward of indescribable bliss. How can anyone gain security without proper investigation? A deliberating man always shines over others. Brahma is great because of deliberation; Vishnu is worshipped because of it.
Association with the Wise Must Precede "Vichara" – Deliberation – Self-Enquiry. A man undoubtedly reaps the fruits of his company. I shall relate to you a story to illustrate this:
"There was once a king of Dasarna by name Muktachuda. He had two sons: Hemachuda and Manichuda. They were comely, well-behaved and well-learned. At one time they led a hunting party, consisting of a great retinue of men and warriors, into a deep forest which was infested with tigers, lions and other wild animals…
Fie on human beings who appraise the foulest part of the body as the most delightful. If one should see beauty in that body-part which is wet with impure excretions, where will not man see beauty? Tell me!

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.
Trusting God's Providence | Verse: Romans 8: 28-31JL de Belen
Trusting God's Providence.
Providence - God’s active preservation and care over His creation. God is both the Creator and the Sustainer of all things Heb. 1:2-3; Col. 1:17
-God keep His promises.
-God’s general providence is toward all creation
- All things were made through Him
God’s special providence is toward His children.

The Book of Job
From ‘The Bible’ – The Old Testament – The Poetical Books
The Book of Job is a part of ‘The Poetical Books’ in ‘The Old Testament’ of ‘The Holy
Bible’.
• We understand from scriptures that inner secrets are not revealed directly but given
to mankind in allegory form.
• It is a wonderful debate between the main character Job, his friends and finally
his teacher Eli’hu who gave him real understanding of God.
We shall now try to understand what lessons this particular section of ‘The Holy Bible’
has for us:
1.1
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was
blameless and upright, one who feared God, and turned away from evil’. 1.2There
were born to him seven sons and three daughters.
Explanation: Job was blameless, upright (righteous; honest, responsible and moral),
one who feared God and turned away from evil. Reference to seven sons and three
daughters is our “ten senses”. All of us are born with these ten children and we play
the game of life through them.
• These are five senses of perception viz. Ears – sound; Skin – touch; Eyes –
sight; Tongue – taste; Nose – smell
• and five senses of action viz. Throat – speech; Hands – manual skill; Legs –
locomotion; Sacral – genital organs and the power of reproduction, desire center
for acquiring knowledge, sex and material things; Coccyx – rectal organ and the
power of excretion, center for diffusion of Life Force to outside world through
attention and attachment to unnecessary (possessions and things created).
Seven sons also refer to:
• Uneasiness (unnatural, alien);
• Frustration (misery);
• Revenge (unforgiving);
• Activity (all actions by thought, speech and deed; full of cares);
• Flurry (nervous hurry, agitation);
• Gaiety (amusement, merry-making, and mirth), and
• Sullen Pride (passively resentful, ill humoured, morose, dismal, ill temper) –
And three daughters as:
• Discontent (unsatisfied state of mind, uneasiness of mind, dissatisfaction),
• Delight (to please highly, to take great pleasure in), and
• Thirst (vehement desire for or of glory, to crave for or after).
2. 2
We are aliens in this physical world. Our real home is region of LIGHT and TRUTH.
There is no change in that region and hence no Illusion. It is a region of Peace and Bliss.
Even if we have all the comforts in the physical world we always have that feeling of
loneliness and we miss something. We are never at ease and our stay in this world is
unnatural.
Job was blessed with all the comforts one could think of but he was not at ease.
• His attention (like all of us) was always divided among his ten children as above.
• His sense field or say his ten children were not in his control.
• He was aware of his weakness and he always prayed to God for help. We shall
see this in the text that follows.
1.4
His sons used to go and hold a feast in the house of each on his day: and they
would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.
Explanation: This is what we all do playing at one sense field or the other throughout
our lives without realizing our true potential.
• Ears crave for sensual music,
• Skin craves for sensual touch,
• Eyes crave for beautiful sights,
• Tongue craves for delicious food,
• Nose craves for sensual smell,
• Speech craves for self-praise and speaking ill of others,
• Hands crave for soft sensual feel,
• Legs crave to visit sensual places,
• Sex is on our mind and we want to possess everything.
1.5
And when the days of the feast had run their course, Job would send and
sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings
according to the number of them all; for Job said, ‘It may be that my sons have
sinned, and cursed God in their hearts’. Thus Job did continually.
Explanation: Job was aware of his weakness at the hands of senses (his ten children)
and their regular merry-making, so he always prayed to God for help.
• We do not realize our weakness and continue to enjoy sense fields and
seek no help from God.
1.6
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before
the Lord, and Satan also came among them…1.8And the Lord said to Satan, ‘Have
you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a
blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?”
1.9
Then Satan answered the Lord, ‘Does Job fear God for naught? 1.10Hast thou not
put a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? Thou
hast blessed the works of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the
land. 1.11But put forth thy hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will curse
thee to thy face. 1.12And the Lord said to Satan, ‘Behold, all that he has is in your
3. 3
power; only upon himself do not put forth your hand.’ So Satan went forth from
the presence of the Lord.
Explanation: This text conveys very important message as under:
1. First, all authority lies with God.
2. Second, Satan is also a son of God to whom He has entrusted all the Universes
created by Him.
3. Third, Satan ensures that His Law is upheld at all times and no soul can go back
to the Father without payment of its karmic dues.
4. Fourth, only the Lord decides which soul He wants to call back to His Kingdom
of Bliss and Everlasting Life which is the real heritage of all of us.
5. Fifth, Satan has to seek permission of the Lord for testing any soul whom the
Lord decides to recall.
6. Sixth, all other souls who do not get the “recall” remain on the autonomous
system of the Lord governed by His Law and most faithfully supervised by Satan.
7. Seventh, this will change our concept of Satan - because in all the Universes
created by God, only His will prevails and no one else has any authority over His
creation. Satan is not the Tempter, we are ourselves to blame for our
weaknesses and it is also one of our weaknesses to put blame on others.
Job had all the qualifications (blameless, upright, fear – awe of God and turned
away from evil) which gained him the eligibility for “recall” by the Lord.
• It was one such meeting which Satan had come to attend where a list is given to
him of souls authorized by the Lord for recall.
• When Satan saw Job’s name in the list, he was wondering that the Lord has
blessed Job with everything one physically desires and given him full protection
and if Job remembers Him, it is not a big deal.
• He wanted permission to test Job and the Lord authorized him to touch his
possessions but Satan was advised not to touch his body.
When Satan came back he withdrew all the possessions of Job. Finally, ‘a great wind
came across the wilderness, and struck four corners of the house, and it fell upon
his children, and they were all dead.’
• Reference to death of children implies that the Lord gave Job inner strength to
withdraw from sense fields and that is why the loss of possessions did not affect
him as is clear from his reply:
1.21
And he said, ‘Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return;
the Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.’
1.22
In all this, Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.
Explanation: Job passed his first test. He did not curse the Lord for loss of possessions
as was expected by Satan.
• Withdrawal of attention from possessions and outside world is the first
step towards realization.
4. 4
In the next meeting the Lord enquires Satan about Job and how he held fast his integrity
to God. 2.4Then Satan answered the Lord, ‘Skin for skin! All that a man has he will
give for his life. 2.5But put forth thy hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh,
and he will curse thee to thy face.’ 2.6And the Lord said to Satan, ‘Behold, he is in
your power; only spare his life.’
Explanation: Earlier Satan was not authorized to touch Job’s body and he seeks that
sanction now to test Job again for integrity. Satan feels that a man is willing to give away
all his possessions if there is any threat to his life and if he is allowed to touch Job’s
body, he will definitely curse God. The Lord authorizes Satan to touch Job’s body
but He refrain’s him from taking his life.
2.7
So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with
loathsome sores from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. 2.8And he took
a potsherd with which to scrape himself, and sat among the ashes.
Explanation: Even with all the trouble on his body, Job does not lose his balance and
still maintains his integrity to God.
• But now another character enters the scene which gives an interesting turn to the
story. It is Job’s wife.
• She is not happy with the turn of events with her husband.
2.9
Then his wife said to him, ‘Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God, and
die.’ 2.10But he said to her, ‘You speak as one of the foolish women would speak.
Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?’ In all this
Job did not sin with his lips.
Explanation: Job is very clear that if he has seen so many happy days in his life with
the blessing of God what if he is seeing some days of suffering now.
• This suffering does not call for curse to God.
• Job’s integrity to God was unshakeable under trying circumstances.
But now at this juncture, there is another most interesting turn of events. Job’s loss of
possessions and afflictions on body became the talk of the town. His friends came to
condole with him and comfort him.
2.12
And when they saw him from afar, they did not recognize him; and they raised
their voices and wept; and they rent their robes and sprinkled dust upon their
heads toward heaven. 2.13And they sat with him on the ground seven days and
seven nights and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his suffering was
very great.
Explanation: This part is very important in the sense that Job’s integrity was not shaken
when he was alone with his wife but as soon as his friends and other well wishers
started weeping and renting in his presence, Job lost his balance.
• Note carefully the effect of company ‘within seven days and seven nights’
on a strong-willed person like Job.
5. 5
• A man is known by the company he keeps and for weak-willed persons like
us even less than seven days and seven nights are sufficient to influence
us.
• The ways of the world make us weak. We are never on sure ground as long as
we ride on the wave of outward current.
Let us see what Job has to say now:
3.1
After this Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.
From here onwards an interesting debate follows between Job and his friends covered in
verses 3 to 30. In verse 28 there is interesting question on wisdom and understanding
followed by wonderful answer:
28.12
But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?
28.13
Man does not know the way to it and it is not found in the land of the living.
28.20
Whence then comes wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?
28.28
And he said to man, “Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to
depart from evil is understanding.”
In verse 31 Job explains his righteousness. The words of Job are ended at verse 31 and
their debate does not reach any conclusion as elders were not able to satisfy Job
regarding his present condition.
In verse 32 there is an interesting turn of events which changes everything for Job.
Since God had already put Job on the recall list, He had sent His representative Eli’hu
among Job’s friends and he was witness to the entire debate.
He (Eli’hu) was angry at Job because he justified himself rather than God; 32.3he
was angry also at Job’s three friends because they had found no answer,
although they declared Job to be in the wrong.
Eli’hu was younger so he had waited to speak to Job. 32.7Eli’hu said, “Let days speak,
and many years teach wisdom.” 32.8But it is the spirit in a man, the breath of the
Almighty, that makes him understand. 32.9It is not the old that are wise, nor the
aged that understand what is right.
Explanation: It is said that knowledge or wisdom of this world is folly with God.
Knowledge or wisdom acquired through senses is not real knowledge, it is intellect
required to conduct ourselves in this world. Intellect is further regulated by our script for
the current life.
• Real knowledge or wisdom is intuition, insight without or beyond senses
and can be had only with the grace of God.
33.9
You say, I am clean, without transgression; I am pure, and there is no iniquity in
me. 33.12’Behold, in this you are not right. I will answer you. God is greater than
man. 33.13Why do you contend against him, saying, “He will answer none of my
words”?
6. 6
Explanation: Job considered himself righteous as we all do in our own way. We are not
aware of our past record and only on our limited awareness of current life we consider
ourselves right. And if it were so we should be able to experience the Light within us.
• Job had also concluded that God and he are at different levels so direct
communication is not possible and hence he cannot know what is right or wrong
for him.
• Eli’hu makes it clear that God does communicate with man in His own ways
but we do not understand or apprehend His message.
33.14
For God speaks in one way, and in two, though man does not perceive it. 33.15In
a dream, in a vision of the night…33.17that he may turn man aside from his deed,
and cut off pride from man; 33.18he keeps back his soul from the Pit, his life from
perishing by the sword.
One way of communicating with God is at the eye center. This option is closed for most
of us as we do not withdraw to this center for direct communication with God. But God is
always mindful of His children and He does not want us to keep on falling down the
bottomless pit.
• This world is like an inverted well and by our conduct we have already fallen to
our current level of Earth.
• At levels below eye center only indirect communication is possible.
• God communicates to us in dream which is semi-conscious state of the body and
we do not apprehend His message.
33.19
Man is also chastened with pain upon his bed, and with continual strife in his
bones; 33.20so that his life loathes bread, and his appetite dainty food. 33.21His flesh
is so wasted away that it cannot be seen; and his bones which were not seen stick
out. 33.22His soul draws near the Pit, and his life to those who bring death.
Next way of communication by God is disease so that we can check our current activity.
Our body has six operative centers with their associated organs to govern all functions.
• For example creative vibratory element ether located at cervical center provides
nourishment to medullar center.
• Mental problems imply that ether element is not getting its proper share of life
(pranic) current as our willful drawing of life force at lower centers is more.
• Problems in the chest imply that creative vibratory element air is being deprived
of its proper share of life (pranic) current due to our willful drawing of life force at
centers below dorsal.
We are subject to triune effect of three attributes:
• Satogun is ‘Ho Ja’ or ‘Be It’ of my I which is all unfulfilled desires and unpaid
accounts authorized by me in previous lives and now lying as stored karmas.
• My current life is a small part of this stored account and this signal is converted
into Light as Rajogun and this Light freezes at various frequencies to appear as
Tamogun at each moment of my life.
7. 7
• Each current moment has pre-image in my past and what I do now is pre-
image for future.
For example if someone is born with mental problem, it implies that this particular soul
has pre-image of willful drawing of life force at lower centers.
• For current life the message for such soul is to check the drawing of life force at
lower centers so that ether element gets its proper share of pranic current and
this effort will have bearing on future of current life and for successive lives there
is a better pre-image in stored account.
• Earth is a big karmic school and we should learn to recognize our
weaknesses and work upon them for better future.
We fail to apprehend these messages because we have recourse to medicine, which
again God has so graciously given to mankind so that His children do not suffer, and
once the disease disappears we fail to check our actions.
• Disease is a communication system of God and we must learn to
understand His message.
Real nature of our soul is inactivity. But here in this physical world we have been
involved in activity.
• We use activity to acquire possessions of the world whereas we should try to
look for ‘right activity’ which will ultimately lead us back to our real home.
• What is this ‘right activity’ has been explained in the following verses:
33.23
If there be for him an angel, a mediator, one of the thousand, to declare to man
what is right for him; 33.24and he is gracious to him, and says, “Deliver him from
going down into the Pit, I have found a ransom; 33.25let his flesh become fresh with
youth; let him return to the days of his youthful vigour”; 33.26then man prays to
God, and he accepts him, he comes into his presence with joy.
33.27
He recounts to men his salvation, and he sings before men, and says: “I
sinned, and perverted what was right, and it was not requited to me. 33.28He has
redeemed my soul from going down into the Pit and my life shall see the light.”
Explanation: This is the most wonderful part of the whole chapter. We all feel that what
we do is right activity.
• But Eli’hu here makes it very clear that we need a mediator, an angel, a fully
realized and duly authorized teacher, one who has seen God and
communicates with Him and at the same time he is at our level because only he
can explain to us what is right for us.
• He should take our responsibility and pray to God for forgiveness on our behalf.
And when we perform the ‘right activity’ as instructed by our teacher, we are
accepted by the Father.
8. 8
Meeting the Father is such a joyful experience that soul dances and sings and recounts
to men that I have been sinning throughout ages with ‘wrong activity’ considering it to be
‘right’ but God did not even look at my record.
• To redeem is to recover by expenditure of effort. So God has recovered my
soul with the effort of ‘right activity’ as advised by the mediator.
• Redemption is not possible without a fully realized duly authorized teacher.
33.29
Behold, God does all these things, twice, three times, with a man, to bring back
his soul from the Pit, that he may see the light of life.
Explanation: God is always mindful of His children but we are not mindful of Him. We
have our mind full with desires and cares of the world.
• God is always keen to recall us from this Bottomless Pit so that we can see and
directly converse with Him within and recover our lost heritage.
In verse 34 Eli’hu clears another doubt expressed by Job while debating with his friends
when he says, 34.9 “It profits a man nothing that he should take delight in God.” Job
had declared that he is righteous, innocent and without transgression and he felt that
affliction meted out to him is not justified.
• To this Eli’hu advises Job and others that we are judged by our deeds when he
says, 34.11For according to the work of a man he will requite him, and
according to his ways he will make it befall him.
In verses 35 and 36 Eli’hu gives another wonderful advice in reply to Job’s complaint
when he says, 35.3”What advantage have I? How am I better off than if I had
sinned?”
• While debating with his friends Job felt that people who are wicked are thriving
and they have no need of God whereas he who is without any transgression has
been made to suffer. Job doubts the justice of God. Commenting on Job’s
plight Eli’hu says,
36.15
He delivers the afflicted by their affliction, and opens their ear by adversity.
3616
He also allured you out of distress into a broad place where there was no
cramping, and what was set on you table was fatness. 36.17But you are full of the
judgment on the wicked; judgment and justice seize you. 36.18Beware lest wrath
entice you into scoffing; and let not the greatness of the ransom turn you aside.
Explanation: Right of judgment and justice was not given to man but we keep on
demanding judgment and justice for the wicked.
• Eli’hu advises Job that he should get rid of this feeling as he has been accepted
by the Master who has assured God that Job will now perform ‘right actions’.
• Right of judgment is only with God and right of justice is with His Karmic
Law which works on the principle of uplifting of soul.
9. 9
• Once we are accepted by a fully realized duly authorized teacher, we must stop
judging others and demand justice for wrong done to us.
• We must learn to forgive and forget.
Job does as commanded by his teacher and he seeks full enlightenment and access to
Kingdom of God. All his children are restored to Job.
• Restoration of children means that previously his senses were controlling Job;
therefore, God gave him strength to withdraw from the sense fields (refer to
death of his ten children) so that he could gain real knowledge already there
within him and all of us but can be had only through a living teacher or guide of
our time. But now after enlightenment, Job knew the Law and thus how to use
senses properly without getting entrapped again. This is the meaning of
restoration of children.
Let us pray to God to help us overcome our weaknesses. We need His help to
tame our ten children so that we can see and converse with our real Father within
like Job.
