  The
Revolution
brought
about
many
good
results,
but
with
the

  good
 also
 come
 the
 bad,
 or
 at
 least
 the
 less
 than
 desirable

  results.

 The
 transformation
 the
 republican
 Revolution
 was

  illustrated
everywhere.

Customary
ties
were
cut
and
traditional

  hierarchies
were
cut.

Although
the
Revolution
did
not
cause
a

  collapse
 of
 the
 social
 order,
 it
 did
 alter
 the
 economy
 and
 they

  way
the
people
looked
at
the
government.

  It
 is
 ironic
 the
 effect
 the
 war
 can
 have

  over
 any
 number
 of
 people.

 It
 was
 a

  sudden
effect
that
was
felt
by
many.

The

  departure
of
the
“loyalists.”

It
is
a
rough

  estimate,
 but
 it
 appears
 that

  approximately
 60,000
 to
 80,000
 loyalists

  got
 out
 of
 dodge
 and
 headed
 to
 Canada

  or
Great
Britain.

  Now
 these
 people
 did
 return
 to
 America
 and
 reintegrated
 into

  American
 society
 after
 the
 war.

 Loyalists
 account
 for
 the

  majority
population
in
the
East
and
Deep
South.

It
was
not
the

  ideal
 situation,
 being
 placed
 back
 into
 society.

 This
 caused

  much
 trials
 and
 tribulations
 and
 it
 was
 widespread.

 It
 was

  believed
the
true
cause
for
this
was
the
“sudden
rise
and
fall
of

  fortunes
during
the
Revolutionary
years.”

  Tobacco
 and
 other
 staple
 crops
 were
 up
 in
 arms
 upon
 the

   release
 of
 British
 freeing
 slaves
 to
 fight
 “for
 the
 crown.”

 The

   devastating
 tobacco
 productions
 took
 a
 new
 turn
 and
 new

   marketing,
and
new
participants
came
as
a
small
relief.

  The
 war
 was
 devastating
 to
 individuals
 and
 some
 merchants,

   but
 some
 merchants
 were
 actually
 prospering
 during
 this
 time

   and
finding
bigger
and
better
opportunities.
