Presented at the City of Toronto PAYE Learning Forum, Youth Employment Conference. October 22, 2013.
Gordon Ching talks about his personal life experiences and how failures, challenges and resilience will yield you the power of being able to immerse yourself with your internal compass.
Understanding what you want in life, what you want to be in life, and how you will get there are all variables that are enabled by people. Through the power of networking, you create an environment that continuously lifts you to your dreams, while also anchoring and grounding yourself.
Networking is often connected with an intimidating concept, while it is no more than a simple idea to spark conversation and create value for both parties. To network properly, you will need to translate value through your words, and actions. You always be asking yourself "how you can help them" versus asking "how they can help you."
Young and more senior people alike today need to embrace failure, and the ability to simply be yourself. To become the best authentic version of yourself so you are able to shine among success and failures.

This document presents a rebranding effort to update the visual representation of teachers. It aims to create imagery that better reflects the multidimensional role of teaching. The goal is to capture the excitement of learning, celebrate developing ideas, and pay homage to teaching tools.
The brief explores two ideas: "Guide" and "Connect the Dots". It settles on "Connect the Dots" as a metaphor for how teachers help students make connections and discover relationships. The branding uses a warm yellow color and sans serif font to represent teaching subjects. It includes ads, signage, gear, and a school pride campaign to showcase the new visual language representing teachers.
How to Stop Killer Robots from Destroying the Human Race*Brady Brim-DeForest
The document discusses the potential dangers of advanced artificial intelligence and proposes three laws to ensure superintelligent robots do not harm humans. It notes that as artificial intelligence progresses and the "singularity" is reached, AI systems could exponentially self-improve in ways that are unpredictable and uncontrollable, potentially posing an existential threat to humanity. To address this, the document recommends following Asimov's three laws of robotics - that robots should not harm humans, obey human orders unless it conflicts with the first law, and protect their own existence as long as it does not conflict with the first two laws.
This document presents a rebranding effort to update the visual representation of teachers. It aims to create imagery that better reflects the multidimensional role of teaching. The goal is to capture the excitement of learning, celebrate developing ideas, and pay homage to teaching tools.
The selected concept is "Connect the Dots", representing how teachers help students connect ideas, reveal relationships, and discover patterns. A warm yellow color and sans serif font are chosen for the brand. Sample advertisements are shown promoting nurturing brilliance and broadening horizons. Branded materials like signs, gear, and a school pride campaign are presented, aiming to spread the new visual language representing the important profession of teaching.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive function. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms.
The document discusses considerations for choosing and using a content management system (CMS). It notes that the complexity and flexibility of a CMS can increase costs, and that performance issues can negatively impact sales and user behavior. Simpler systems that separate content from design and focus on usability, accessibility and performance are recommended. Examples of successful government digital services using simpler CMS approaches are provided.

Power of Networking for Entrepreneurs - GEWQatar 2015Emad Saif
This presentation/workshop was delivered as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week in Qatar to tackle the importance of networking with a focus on entrepreneurs. It covers the importance of networking for entrepreneurs, provide some valuable networking tips and finally a tool to help maintain and grow connections in a personal network.
The word is getting out. Great web site experiences require careful development and crafty execution in the front end. Squeezing every drop of performance out of your user's browser is tough, but Steve Souders and friends have mobilized an army, and we are all having a bloody good go.
But there is a common threat to doing great work in the front-end. It lurks in the back-end and clients love it. It's the content management system, and more often than not, it stinks.
We'll look at examples of the damaging traces CMSs leave behind in the front-end and at how we might work to reduce them. We'll find ways to fight for what matters in a CMS, and ways to avoid the smell of your CMS wafting over to the user and sacrificing the craftsmanship of good front-end engineering.

On Storytelling & Magic Realism in Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children, Shame, and ...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: Salman Rushdie’s novels are humorous books about serious times. His cosmopolitanism and
hybrid identity allowed him access to multiple cultures, religions, languages, dialects, and various modes of
writing. His style is often classified as magic realism, blending the imaginary with the real. He draws
inspiration from both English literature and Indian classical sources. Throughout his works, there is a lineage of
‘bastards of history’, a carnival of shameful characters scrolling all along his works. Rushdie intertwines fiction
with reality, incorporating intertextual references to Western literature in his texts, and frequently employing
mythology to explore history. This paper focuses on Rushdie’s three novels: Midnight’s Children, Shame, and
Haroun and the Sea of Stories, analyzing his postmodern storytelling techniques that aim to explore human
vices and follies while offering socio-political criticism.

CYBER SECURITY ENHANCEMENT IN NIGERIA. A CASE STUDY OF SIX STATES IN THE NORT...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: Security plays an important role in human life and endeavors. Securing information and
disseminating are critical challenges in the present day. This study aimed at identifying innovative technologies
that aid cybercrimes and can constitute threats to cybersecurity in North Central (Middle Belt) Nigeria covering
its six States and the FCT Abuja. A survey research design was adopted. The researchers employed the use of
Google form in administering the structured questionnaire. The instruments were faced validated by one expert
each from ICT and security. Cronbach Alpha reliability Coefficient was employed and achieved 0.83 level of
coefficient. The population of the study was 200, comprising 100 undergraduate students from computer science
and Computer/Robotics Education, 80 ICT instructors, technologists and lecturers in the University and
Technical Colleges in the Middle Belt Nigeria using innovative technologies for their daily jobs and 20 officers
of the crime agency such as: Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) andEconomic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC). Three research purposes and questions as well as the hypothesis guided the study
on Five (5) point Likert scale. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for the three
research questions while three hypotheses were tested using t-test at 0.05 level of significance. Major findings
revealed that serious steps are needed to better secure the cybers against cybercrimes. Motivation, types, threats
and strategies for the prevention of cybercrimes were identified. The study recommends that government,
organizations and individuals should place emphasis on moral development, regular training of its employees,
regular update of software, use strong password, back up data and information, produce strong cybersecurity
policy, install antivirus soft and security surveillance (CCTV) in offices in order to safeguard its employees and
properties from being hacked and vandalized.
