There are currently three approaches to characterize and quantify the fatigue behaviour of composite laminates that are, Fatigue Life Modelling and Prediction, Phenomenological and Empirical Modelling, and Progressive Damage Modelling. These approaches constitute the evolution that is driven by ever expanding industrial needs and academic pursuit and assisted by perpetual technological advances in experimentation capabilities. In the first approach of Fatigue Life Modelling and Prediction the individual material degradation mechanisms are not directly concerned with, rather the determination of stress-life relationships based on experimental data is concerned with and the failure criteria or the residual strength determination is established based on these relationships, for the specific composite laminate.
Examination of Tensile Test Specimens Produced in Three-Dimensional Printer by Fuat Kartal* in Crimson Publishers: Applied mechanical engineering
In this study, the effect of different parameters on tensile test specimens produced by joint manufacturing with open source code and equipment using PLA type filament was investigated experimentally. Tensile specimens were designed and manufactured according to ASTM IV type tensile test standards. The test design was based on the L9 orthogonal array of the Taguchi Method and experiments was designed according to this plan. According to the results, Parameters of layer thickness and filling scan range parameters were found to provide significant improvement in the tensile strength increase

Aerostatic porous bearings have been investigated in the last decades for precision engineering designs, since these bearings offer zero-friction and high operating speeds, as well as providing a very precise positioning system without external influence. Numerical methods such as CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) play an important role in the design and behavior analysis of porous aerostatic bearings, being possible to adjust the geometry and characteristics of the porous restrictor even before its manufacture In the present work, the behavior of the gas at the inlet and outlet of a porous thrust bearing made of cementitious composites is analysed by numerical simulation using CFD method. The results reveal a stable behavior of the cementitious porous bearing and a good correlation between numerical and experimental load capacities.
