A study found that children aged 6 and under spend an average of two hours a day playing video games, using computers, and watching TV - about the same amount of time spent on outdoor activities. This screen time is about three times more than the average 49 minutes spent reading or being read to. Nearly two-thirds of kids under 2 spend a couple hours a day in front of screens. The study also found that TV exposure can negatively impact reading abilities, with fewer kids from "heavy" TV households able to read by age 6 compared to others. However, most young children still spend time reading or being read to on a typical day.
