When the author's parents were young, few people could afford TVs so they were not common. Families would gather in the evenings to watch the limited programming available, especially a 10-minute advertising program for children called "Carosello". The author's mother enjoyed the Alfred Hitchcock thriller "The Birds" as a teenager. In contrast, the author's grandparents did not have a TV since only wealthy people could afford them, and they did not go to the cinema either. Nowadays, everyone has a TV and can watch films at home or in theaters, such as the author's favorites "Modern Family" sitcom and the biopic "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" about rapper 50 Cent.
