Q: Word Origins?
A: Word origin is the point at which a word begins or from which it derives e.g. from
{docre & teach} in Latin origins the English word {doctor}. So for most of English
language, Latin has been the origin because it is the last language listed.
Resemblances
English words resemble words in other languages for the word mother
• English - Mother (from mater in Latin e.g. alma mater – mother institution)
• French - Mere
• German - Mutter
• Spanish – Madre
All of the above have originated from the last language to which the current language
was in link with.

Q: Root Word?
A: Root words are similar to the trunk and branches of a tree. Root words are words
that help form a new word.
Here are a few examples:
Bio (Root) - meaning life or living – forming Biology
Graph (Root) - meaning writing or print – forming Graphing
Meter (Root) - meaning measure – forming Thermometer (while thermo means
temperature)
Struct (Root) - meaning build – forming Construct

Q: What is Dictionary?
A dictionary usually defines a word methodically and demonstrates how it should be
spelled, pronounced, and used.
Dictionary of Thesaurus?
Q: What is Dictionary of Thesaurus?
A thesaurus (plural thesauri or thesauruses) or synonym dictionary is a reference work
for finding synonyms and sometimes antonyms of words. They are often used by
writers to help find the best word to express an idea: ...to find the word, or words, by
which [an] idea may be most fitly and aptly expressed.
