Hand printing such as etching or linocut requires carving or drawing on materials. Mechanical printing like letterpress uses raised surfaces to transfer ink. Digital printing uses laser or inkjet methods and allows for quick desktop publishing. Hand printing is lower cost but more time-consuming, while digital printing can finish more quickly though costs per print may be higher.
