Summary of Opening Scene: My opening scene will begin with consist of heated family
argument between two brothers, Jack (8) and Stanley (13), over Jack’s need for his hearing aids.
This argument inevitably leads to Jack storming out of the family suburban house and roaming
the streets at dusk, as he walks down the street, streetlights flicker – creating an uneasy feel to
the scene. He eventually enters the local cemetery after going in to investigate a strange noise
coming from the gates. Jack is shortly followed by his brother, who follows the young boy's
footsteps through the suburbs, experiencing the same flickering lights that followed his brother.
As Stanley arrives at the same graveyard, he sees a distant silhouette, curious, he moves closer,
thinking it may be his brother. However, upon getting closer to the figure, Stanley is met with a
ghastly noise that frightens him, causing him to fall back, and as he looks back up the figure is
nowhere to be seen. In a desperate attempt to find his brother, he moves further into the cemetery
and is yet again met with a noise, only this time, a twig snapping, eerily close behind him.
Frightened, he slowly turns his head and is met with a mystery man (we do not see his face due
to the use of an over the shoulder shot). This causes Stanley to run. He comes to a halt when he
sees his brother in the distance reaching out his hand to the same silhouette, he saw just minutes
before. As Jacks hand touches the figure, it reveals a sinister looking hand. The scene then ends
and immediately cuts to the opening credits
