There are 6 simple machines: inclined plane, wedge, lever, screw, wheel and axle, and pulley. Simple machines are devices that do work with only one or two moving parts. Machines change the way work is done by exerting input force over a distance to produce output force. The output work of a machine can never exceed the input work due to friction.

1. A balanced social marketing scorecard considers metrics across four perspectives - financial, digital, brand, and risk management - to fully capture the value of social media programs. This avoids an overly narrow focus on direct financial metrics like ROI.
2. The financial perspective measures impacts on metrics like sales, costs, and customer spending. The brand perspective surveys consumers on brand attributes. The digital perspective analyzes owned and earned social assets. The risk management perspective estimates how social media reduces costs of potential issues.
3. Marketers should define objectives and select metrics for each perspective, and use the scorecard to align measurement, build consensus, and avoid short-term thinking that damages long-term brand health. A balanced approach
Social media is now seen as a fundamental part of brand building, but it is not sufficient on its own. Brand building strategy and social strategy must be intertwined. There are three strategic roles social media can play to help build brands: 1) build relationships to become more trusted, 2) differentiate through emotional connections to become more remarkable, and 3) nurture loyal fans to become more essential. However, social efforts still require the scale and consistency of paid and owned media to fully build a brand.
This document discusses research on consumers' use of multiple screens while watching television. It finds that as consumers add more devices, they are more likely to use other devices while watching TV. Over half of consumers with two screens and over 60% with three or more screens report multi-tasking in this way. Tablet owners are even more likely to take actions like making purchases in response to what they're watching. However, many consumers find that mobile apps and sites from media companies and businesses are unsatisfactory. As device ownership continues to grow, multi-screen behavior will likely increase as well. The study concludes that while TV remains the primary device for viewing, consumers are increasingly using other devices simultaneously in complementary ways.
