1. Symbolism: Sow’s Head
• The pig’s head, also know as “Lord of
the flies”, is a bloody sow’s head that
jack impales on a stake, as a offering
to the “beast”. This symbol drew more
depth to the story as it spoke to
Simon, “evil lies within every human
heart” and promising to have some
“fun” with him, which foreshadowed
he death in the later chapters.
Furthermore, the sow’s head
represents both a physical image of
the “beast” and also the reflection of
evil within ever human being.
