Susana Chavez Castillo was a Mexican poet and activist who was murdered in January 2011 at the age of 36. She began writing poetry at age 11 and used her writing and activism to advocate against violence towards women in Ciudad Juarez and Mexico. Some of her notable works included the poems "Sangre Nuestra" and "Fantasmas". Her murder occurred shortly after another human rights activist was killed and her activism was believed to have played a role in her death, though authorities denied this.
