Supermarkets

Editor's Notes

  1. Supermarkets are also called markets or grocery stores. They are usually one story high and large.
  2. People buy food at supermarkets. Supermarkets are usually stand alone buildings in small shopping malls.
  3. Supermarkets have large parking lots where shoppers can park for free.
  4. Coupons offer discounts for items like bread, cereal, and lunchmeat.
  5. Shopping carts are used to carry groceries. They have four wheels and a large basket.
  6. Baskets are for shoppers who want to buy just a few items.
  7. Cans, boxes, and bags of food and paper goods are kept on shelves. The shelves are arranged in aisles.
  8. A stocker is a worker who puts groceries on the grocery store shelves.
  9. Shoppers can find fruits and vegetables in the produce section of the grocery store or supermarket.
  10. Produce is sold by the pound. Shoppers and cashiers weigh the produce on a scale.
  11. Butchers cut and sell meat. They work in the meat section of the store.
  12. Dry goods include cereal, flour, and sugar
  13. Canned foods last a long time. They can be easily stored on a shelf or in a cabinet.
  14. Grocery stores sell a small selection of personal goods like deordorant.
  15. Cashiers stand on their feet all day.
  16. You can help the environment by using reusable grocery bags.
  17. This man is carrying two paper bags full of groceries.
  18. He is putting the groceries in the truck of his car.
