The Deepwater Horizon oil spill is moving towards the Louisiana coast. BP has capped one of the three leak points on the damaged oil well, reducing but not stopping the total flow of oil escaping from the remaining two leaks. A remotely operated vehicle installed a valve on the end of the broken drill pipe to shut off the flow from that point. BP continues preparations to lower a containment dome over one of the leak sites to capture oil and divert it to a collection vessel. The company has response equipment and personnel staged along the Gulf Coast to respond over the next seven to ten days as needed.

1) The document describes the geological evolution of the Porcupine Basin offshore Ireland, from initial Late Jurassic rifting through Early Cretaceous hyperextension and thermal subsidence.
2) During the Late Jurassic, rifting created fault-bounded sub-basins that were filled by fluvial-deltaic and later marine sediments. In the Early Cretaceous, the basin transitioned to hyperextension, forming structurally rotated depocentres perched on basin flanks.
3) Major unconformities reflect periods of erosion and mass wasting during basin evolution. Younger Cretaceous strata onlapped and buried the older rotated sequences.

2. SULA-1 OFFSHORE OIL & GAS FIELD
(EXECUTIVE SUMMARY)
The offshore Sula-1 Block in Banggai Sula Basin and
geographically this block is located in the central Sulawesi
with the total acreage of the area cover approximately
8,207,66 Square KM.
This data used in the evaluation is purchased from Patra Nusa
Data on package of Sula-1 Block consist of seismic 2D with
total length 2981,6 km and 2 wells.
Sula Basin, an east-west trending and triangle shaped of
passive margin basin, lies within Sula, Buru, Mangui,
Salabangka and Banggai islands.
Breaking up of Gondwana Land in Mesozoic time caused its
northern part split into several micro plates which drifted to
the north away from Australia Continental Plate and resulted
in frame work of passive margin basin (Pigram and
Panggabean, 1984). The northwest part of Australia plate
pushed away by Pacific Oceanic Plate in Pliocene time and
drifted to west along the Sorong Fault.
The stratigraphy of eastern Sulawesi is related to two distinct
depositional time period, the first representing a continental
margin rift / drift sequence prior to the collision and the
second representing a foreland basin fish-molasse
sedimentary sequence, deposited in front of an easterly
migrating thrust front after collision had occurred.
Result of spatial gravity analysis indicate that closures of
gravity highs and lows within the block are relatively well
defined by the gravity and residual orde I. this suggest that
principal basin structural grains within the block areas are
oriented E-W but dissected by a series of gravity crest and
through oriented N-S to NWW-SEE as indicated the
derivative maps.
BE-2
Post mortem analyses of well Loku-1 and Alpha-1A suggested
that Alpha-1Awas dry is due to migration pathway. The Alpha-1A
is a far from kitchen where the mature source rocks present and
there are lack of fault conduit that connect the reservoir to
kitchen, Whereas well Loku-1 suggested a well with gas
discovery having test 1.68 mmcf/day; it, then, proved the
presence of active petroleum systems in Sula I Block. The main
concern is lack of reservoir as well as oil seeps at Bobulut in
Selue Besar and at Lede in Taliabu Island. These facts suggest for
the presence of active petroleum systems of the area. Burial
history model shows possibly oil window at depth 1850 meter.
Base on seismic interpretation, there are 8 (eight) closure lead
with 3 (three) horizon target of each closure lead; They are Lead1,
Lead 2, Lead 3, Lead 4, Lead 5, Lead 6, Lead 7, and Lead 8.
The potential source rock based on geochemical analyses
indicated that the source rock rich the composed of Jurassic clays
tones of the upper Bobong Formation and the upper Buya
Formation. Whereas the Quartize sandstones of Bobong and Buya
Formation are the main reservoir targets for the basin.
Hydrocarbon may be trapped in the interfingered sandstone
bodies and in growth faults and anticlines of fault drag. The unit
of intercalation of siltstone, sandstone and clay stone is an
intraformational seal in the Buya Formation, as well as, marls are
seal for Pancoran Formation.
Three reservoirs and 22 (twenty two) leads have been defined in
the Sula I Block based on seismic mapping. There are L.
Cretaceous (6 leads), Mid Jurassic (8 leads), and Early Jurassic (8
leads).
