Delphi Mexico was spending over $20 million annually on electricity from the state-owned monopoly CFE, with rates increasing 7% per year. To secure a reliable green energy supply at lower cost without capital expenditure, Delphi discovered it could purchase power from a private generator under self-supply legislation by purchasing generator company shares. This led to a 15-year, $300 million wind farm agreement covering 80% of Delphi Mexico's consumption at 15% below CFE rates in USD with no capital costs for Delphi. The wind farm began production in November 2014.

On July 10, 2020, ICLR conducted a Friday Forum webinar titled 'Impact resilient roofing', lead by Vince Carrier and Mark Okland of IKO. Insurance companies across North America are experiencing rising claims from hail, severe wind and other climate risks. In many events, the most extensive losses involve damage to the roof, losses that can be prevented. IKO203 FORTIFIED Asphalt Shingle Roofs is an American Institute of Architects course that sets out actions required to install a damage resistant asphalt roof consistent with the FORTIFIED program.
This presentation explored why the program was created by the insurance industry in the United States through the Institute for Business and Home Safety. The presentation also explained how these measures provide protection from damage beyond that required in the building code, including a review of climate related resilient roofing products, testing results and the benefits of performance enhanced products.
The presentation by Mark Okland and Vince Carrier from Canada’s leading producer of asphalt shingles, IKO, was of particular interest to those presently responding to the damage resulting from the June 13 Calgary hail storm and will set out the value of an impact resilient roof.

Sprint aims to recycle or reclaim 90% of devices by 2017, but currently only recycles 35%, with 65% unaccounted for. Some phones offer more sustainable features, but saw little promotion and sales. Japan's law requires manufacturers accept returns, but only 20% were recycled in 2009. The EU requires minimum 65% recycling rates, and Switzerland recycled 93% in 2003 through regulated programs balanced by new device costs covering recycling. California recycled 25% in 2008 solely through consumer actions, higher than other states. Possible plans include laws making producers responsible for devices through their entire lifecycles including disposal.
