SYNERGY Induction to Pedagogy Programme - Training of Peers (ENGLISH)
The SYNERGY Induction to Pedagogy programme was created by project partners, with the aim of helping micro-enterprise owners using the SYNERGY Exchange platform, to engage in peer-to-peer learning opportunities. This training programme comprises six modules and is delivered over 5 hours through a series of video lectures and PowerPoints which have been written, developed and recorded by project partners.
These modules provide micro-enterprise owners with a sound understanding of the basics in relation to e-didactics, quality criteria of peer-learning, evaluation of online learning resources and online learning environments, producing quality learning resources for peers and other knowledge that has helped them to become competent and confident online peer-educators. This module is entitled ‘Training of Peers’ and provides content which provides an introduction to the characteristics of peer educators, instructional design theory and some common models used, and a brief overview of adult learning styles.
These slides are available in English, Finnish, German, Greek, Italian and Romanian.
On Social Learning, Sensemaking Capacity, and Collective Intelligence
This document summarizes a web seminar on social learning, sensemaking capacity, and collective intelligence given by Simon Buckingham Shum. It discusses concepts like wicked problems, collective intelligence, and sensemaking. It also covers computer-supported approaches to participatory inquiry, dialogue, deliberation and argumentation. Transitional thinkers from the past like Makiguchi, Steiner, Montessori and Dewey are discussed as being needed for times of transition. The importance of developing skills like critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and learning to learn are emphasized. Citizenship education, social learning technologies, and tools to support sensemaking like annotation, argument mapping and visualizations are presented.

Learning Styles & Academic Theory (Learning Styles don't Exist)
This is a lecture I gave on Learning Styles and other Academic Theory for our Business School Students. It contains videos which probably won't work on this format but I've included the links. Most of the 'content' is in the notes section on each slide - I spoke it. Students were given a Twitter #tag to use during the lecture to reply to the questions posed and these where displayed on a twitter wall. There were also links to Excel files containing questionnaires that the students were encouraged to try after the session.
Training Plan Template - Honey & Mumford Learning Model
This document provides a template for a training plan on the Honey & Mumford Learning Model. The plan includes sections on introduction, objectives, process, experience, application, guided learning, practice and progress monitoring, recap, review, and application. The guided learning section would discuss the four learning preferences identified in the model (activist, reflector, theorist, pragmatist) and have learners match them to Kolb's learning cycle. Learners would then practice applying the model and be assessed on their understanding.
