By 2020, improvements will likely come from manufacturing advances rather than new chemistries, but longer-term R&D could enable new technologies by 2030 if given sufficient funding and support. Energy storage could significantly aid renewable energy deployment but both R&D investment and policies to support deployment will be needed to realize its potential benefits.

Identification and analysis of “extended 210” promotersfateh11
This document reports on research identifying and analyzing "extended -10" promoters in mycobacteria. The researchers analyzed 59 mycobacterial promoter sequences and found that 13 contained an extended -10 motif comprising the sequence TGN immediately upstream of the -10 region. Functional analysis of the S16 promoter of Mycobacterium smegmatis revealed that mutation of the TGN motif resulted in a significant reduction of transcriptional strength in both mycobacteria and E. coli, demonstrating that the TGN motif is an important determinant of transcriptional strength in mycobacteria. Additional experiments analyzing promoters with different -35 regions supported that the influence of the TGN motif on transcriptional strength is modulated by the sequences in the -35 region.
