Introduction
Strategic Connections is an enterprise level
technology systems integrator offering SEVEN core
specialty systems needed in construction of today’s
modern facilities. These core divisions consist
of Structured Cabling, Audio Visual, Commercial
Security, Telephone systems, Fire Alarm, Fire
Protection, and Electrical systems.

AND EXPERIENCE
Company History
Strategic Connections was incorporated in
October 1998, formed by the company’s CEO
Scott McLaughlin. Strategic Connections delivers
uncompromising solutions for its customers. Starting
out as a structured cabling contractor, our business
vision and genuine care for “Customer Satisfaction”
has caused Strategic Connections to grow into a
reputable technology installation firm that is well
established and respected within industry circles,
always expanding our capabilities in order to become
a single point-of-contact company that can meet
all of our customers’ turnkey low voltage needs.
Strategic Connections has achieved steady growth
every year since its beginning.
In August of 2009, Strategic Connections acquired
OneSource Building Technologies Audiovisual,
Sound & Lighting Group, formerly a Tyco company.
OSBT-AVSL originally started out in 1949 as Long
Communications. Long has been an icon in the audio-
visual world, and is well known for its distinguished
tradition of system design and installation without
compromise. With this addition, decades of talent
were added to Strategic Connections staff, creating
one of the premier full service AV integrators in the
United States. It also put four Strategic Connections
office locations on the map.
In July of 2010, Strategic Connections acquired
Communications Support Services Inc., (CSS). With
this new addition, Strategic Connections Inc. virtually
doubled the products and services to its regional
Structured Cabling portfolio, adding a seasoned
group of management and installation professionals
to its fast growing organization.
In July of 2011, the security division of Strategic
Connections became a stand-alone company named
Strategic Security Solutions, still owned by Strategic
Connections. Strategic Security Solutions moved into
its own space and created the fifth office location for
Strategic Connections.
In February of 2013, Strategic Connections formed a
stand-alone division dedicated to Fire Alarm and Life
Safety Systems, creating the sixth core department in
the Company. This commitment to provide the same
quality and dependability with Fire Alarm systems
was considerable. Strategic Connections did not
spare any expense to bring in the talent, experience,
and credentials required, adding a complete design/
engineering/installation department to the fold.
In January of 2015, Strategic Connections repeated
our 2013 expansion by adding our Fire Protection
and Sprinkler division to enhance the Life Safety
Systems technology we provide, creating the seventh
core department in the Company. As separate yet
related departments, we now provide the annual
inspections required by code for both Fire Alarm and
Fire Protection systems.

Strategic Connections has BICSI trained, including
full time Registered Communications Distribution
Designers (RCDD’s) on staff, as well as manufacturer
certified personnel fully versed in structured cabling
distribution designs and installations for every type
of copper, coax, and fiber optic network application.
Not only can we install your structured cabling with
professional aesthetics and certified functionality,
but we have in house a vast field of experienced
designers and estimators that can help you get the
structured cabling system you need.

We are a large experienced DAS installer that can
help amplify external cell phone signals in your

Sound Masking
We offer intelligent Sound Masking systems that
dynamically adjust themselves to the differing
sound levels of your open office areas throughout
the day. Your Sound Masking system can learn the
patterns of noise in your office and adjust its own
level to give you the maximum masking level that is

licensed division of Strategic Connections. We deliver

Access Control
At Strategic Security Solutions, we have been at
the edge of Access Control and Managed Access
Control innovation since 2002, mastering the use
of our choice products to guarantee the success of
our clients. We use advanced systems to allow our

or CCTV systems. This means that our clients have

Strategic Connections is a leader in designing,
installing, and maintaining life safety products. Our
Fire Alarm team members are certified from NICET
levels one through four. Our Fire Alarm Division
Manager is a former Standard Level 3 Electrical
Code Enforcement Official, the highest level in North
Carolina. The Fire Alarm team also includes former
Fire Inspectors and personnel registered as holders
of an unlimited Electrical License with the State of
North Carolina.
Service and Monitoring
You can call us at any time of the day for Fire Alarm
System Service via our 24/7 service number. We
use an Underwriters’ Laboratories listed top-rated
monitoring company that provides round-the-clock
monitoring services for all of your Fire Alarm System
equipment.
Inspections
Fire Alarm System inspections are necessary
from both a legal and Fire Code requirement. We
employ NICET– (National Institute for Certification
in Engineering Technologies) certified and state-
licensed inspection technicians who are not only
able to perform the required inspections, but to also
repair and correct any deficiencies that may exist in
your Fire Alarm System.
Design
Strategic Connections does all of our Fire Alarm
System Design in-house using CAD software. This
means that your design will meet the national fire
code, and will be the optimal design for the unique

utilize the 3D CAD software, “AutoSprink,” which
allows us to design a complete Fire Protection system
and maximize the coverage of your sprinklers. It
also allows us to do pressure and price calculations
in-system instead of having to do them manually,
which saves you time and money. In addition, we
can perform BIM calculations and get precise design
measurements before going to a producer. These
are even more time saving options that can save you
more money and guarantee the best solution.
NFPA-25 Compliant
Fire Protection Inspections
Strategic Connections’ inspectors are all NICET-
certified and ready to make sure your fire protection
system is ready with a thorough inspection. They will
check such things as piping, gauges, sprinkler heads,
water tanks, valves, and pressure to make sure
that all of these pieces fit together into one whole
system that will pass Fire Protection Inspection with
flying colors. Strategic Connections can also conduct
a number of other Fire Prevention Inspections
beyond the standard NFPA-25 Compliance. We also
inspect Backflow Preventers, Fire Pumps, and Fire

Our electrical installation team has completed many
projects over the years, from basic installations to
larger and more complicated industrial installations,

Generator Backup
Strategic Connections’ solutions for backup
generators are as varied as the different generator

LED Lighting
Two of the many advantages that LEDs have are long
lifespans and durability. Unlike standard lighting,
