Stock Exchange is a vital components of
a stock market. It facilitates the
transaction between traders of financial
instruments and targeted buyers. A stock
exchange in India adheres to a set of
rules and regulations directed by
securities and exchange board of India or
SEBI.
It is a platform where buyers and sellers
come together to trade financial tools
during specific hours of any business day
while adhering to SEBI's well defined
guidelines. However, only those
companies who are listed in a stock
exchange are allowed to trade in it.

6. FUNCTIONS OF STOCK
EXCHANGE
ECONOMIC BAROMETER
• A stock exchange is
reliable barometer to
measure the economic
condition of a country.
• The pricing of shares
fluctuates with every
significant change in the
country and economy.
• If the price rises, it
indicates boom, whereas
if the price falls, it
indicates a recession
cycle.
PRICING OF SECURITIES
• Based on demand and
supply factors, the stock
exchange helps to value
securities. The securities
offered by profitable
companies focused on
growth tend to have a
higher value than other
companies securities.
• Pricing of
securities enables
investors, creditors and
government organizations
to perform their respective
functions.
SAFETY OF TRANSACTIONS
• All companies listed on the
stock exchange are well
regulated. They must adhere to
the legal framework given by
the regulator for listing. As a
result, it ensures transactional
safety. In India, SEBI regulates
the trading of securities.

BOMBAY STOCK EXCHANGE(BSE)
The Bombay stock exchange(BSE) is an Indian stock exchange is the leading
stock exchange under the ownership of Ministry of Finance, Government of India. It
is
located on Dalal Street in Mumbai. Established in 1875 by cotton merchant
Prem Chand Roychand, a Jain businessman, it is the oldest stock exchange in Asia,
and also the 10th oldest in the world. The BSE is the 8th largest stock exchange
with an overall market capitalization in the world with more than
Rs276.713 lakh crore, as of January 2022 more than 5,000
companies are listed on BSE.

HISTORY OF BSE
The Bombay Stock Exchange is India's largest and earliest
securities market. It is also Asia's first stock exchange. It had its
origin in the 1850s when group of about 20 stockbrokers met
under banyan trees in the streets of Bombay.
Their location changed frequently as the size of the group
increased. The group moved to what is now called Dalal Street
(meaning broker's street) in 1874.
Finally, in 1875, eminent businessman Premchand Roychand
officially founded the Native Share and Stock Brokers Association
which was later renamed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

HISTORY OF BSE
On 31 August 1957, the BSE became the first stock exchange to be
recognized by the Indian Government under the securities contracts
regulation act. In 1986, it developed the BSE SENSEX Inder, giving the
BSE a means to measure overall performance of the exchange. In 2000,
the BSE used this index to open its derivatives market, trading SENSEX
futures contracts. The development of SENSEX option along with equity
derivatives following in 2001 and 2002, expanding the BSt's brading
platform.
The BSE is also a partner exchange of the United Nations.
Sustainable Stock Exchange initiative, joining
in September 2021.

16. RELIANCE INDUSTRIES LIMITED
Reliance Industries Limited is an Indian multinational
conglomerate company, headquartered in Mumbai, India.
Reliance Industries diverse businesses include energy,
petrochemicals, natural gas, retail, telecommunications,
mass media and textiles.
Reliance is one of the most profitable companies in India, the
largest publicity traded company in India by market
capitalization, and the largest company in India as measured
by revenue after recently surpassing the government owned
Indian Oil Corporation. It is also the eighth largest employer
in India with over 2,36,000 employees.
20. TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICES
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is an Indian multinational information technology services
and consulting company with its headquarters in Mumbai. It is a part of TATA group and
operates in 150 locations across 46 countries. In July 2022, it was reported that TCS had
crossed 6 lakh employees worldwide.
TCS is the second largest Indian Company by market capitalization and is among the most
valuable IT service brands worldwide. In 2015, TCS was ranked 64th overall in the Forbes
“World’s most Innovative Companies” ranking, making it one of the highest-ranked IT
services companies and a top Indian company.
In 2016-17, parent company Tata sons owned 72.05% of TCS and more than 70% of Tata sons
dividends were generated by TCS. In March 2018, Tata Sons sold stocks of TCS worth $1.25
billion in a bulk deal. As of 15 September 2021, TCS has recorded a market capitalization of
US$200 billion.
24. ICICI Bank Limited is an Indian multinational bank and financial
services company headquartered in Mumbai. It offers a wide range
of banking products and financial services for corporate and retail
customers through a variety of delivery channels and specialized
subsidiaries in the area of investment banking, life, non-life
insurance, venture capital and asset management.
The bank has a network of 5,275 branches and 15,589 ATMs across
India and has a presence in 17 countries. The bank has subsidiaries
in the United Kingdom and Canada; branches in United States,
Singapore, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Dubai International Finance Centre,
China and South Africa; as well as representative offices in United
Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Indonesia.
ICICI Bank offers products and services such as online money

time deposits, recurring deposits, mortgages, loan, etc..
28. Wipro Limited (formerly, Western India Palm Refined Oils Limited) is an Indian
multinational corporation that provides information technology, consulting
and business process services. Thierry Delaporte is serving as CEO and
managing director of Wipro from July 2020.
Wipro’s capabilities range across cloud computing, cyber security, digital
transformation, artificial intelligence, robotics, data analytics and other
technology consulting services to customers in 67 countries.
32. Asian Paints Ltd. Is an Indian multinational paint company, headquartered
in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Founded in February 1942.The company is
engaged in the business of manufacturing, selling and distribution of
paints, coatings, products related to home decoration, bath fittings and
providing of related services. Asian Paints is India’s largest and Asia’s
third largest paints corporation.
Asian Paints is the holding company of Berger International. The
company generated a revenue of Rs.17,194.1 crore in the financial year
2019-20 and a profit of Rs.2,654 crore. The company’s manufacturing
operations encompass 15 countries of the world including India, with
considerable presence in the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East.
