Jonathan Cordeau is applying to the Master's program in English Literature at Concordia University. He has maintained a high GPA since returning to school in 2012 and will graduate with his Bachelor's degree while having been on the Dean's List for four consecutive semesters. He believes Concordia offers a uniquely innovative curriculum and that continuing his education there would be the most enriching experience for exploring his interests in the intersection of mythology and graphic novels. Since myprobationaryreturnto school in2012, I have maintainedahighgrade pointaverage thatrose

perhapsunconsciously,have guidedmyprojectaims. DarrenWershlertaughtme how toengage with
unique literarygenres;CynthiaQuarrie helpedme redefine whatagraphicnovel is;andMelanie Dean
gave me the toolsto understandglobalizing factorsincultural exchange.
I hope to buildonmyinterdisciplinaryUndergraduate experience byexploringthe intersectionsof
knowledge economicsandmythological narratives.Of particularinteresttome isthe representationof
mythical figuresingraphicnovels. Ibelieve thatthe globalizationeffectsof massmediacommunication
uniquelyaffectsthe disseminationof mythical narrativesinpopularformsof writing.Tothe bestof my
knowledge,there hasnotbeenasubstantial efforttostudythese new formsof literature fromthis
perspective.
I propose thatthe relationshipbetweenmythological narrativesandvisual literature createsacultural
fragmentationthatallowsmythtobe representedinvariousoverlappingways.Thismulti-faceted
mythicrepresentationallowsmulticultural communities(especiallyinmelting-potculturessuchas

comfortable withthe resourcesandstaff thatare available tome inConcordia.I believe Iwill thrivebest
