the Dean’sList forfour consecutive semesters.
Enclosedinthisapplicationpacketare referenceswrittenbythree professorshave chosentowrite on
my behalf. The relationshipsIhave withthese teachershave theirinceptioninmyundergraduate
program of study, but I see intheirfuture the foundationsof myintellectualandscholarlymaturity.
Withtheirunique insight,i hope toenrichmyunderstandingof the projectIwill be undertaking.
I have alwaysstrivedforexcellence inmystudiesandIbelieve thatConcordiaUniversityconfersthat
same qualitytoitsfaculty. Overthe last fouryearsI have benefittedfromthe guidance of teacherswho,
perhapsunconsciously, have guidedmyprojectaims. DarrenWershlertaughtme how toengage with
unique literarygenres;CynthiaQuarrie helpedme redefine whatagraphicnovel is;andMelanie Dean
gave me the toolsto understandglobalizing factorsincultural exchange.
I hope to buildonmyinterdisciplinaryUndergraduate experience byexploringthe intersectionsof
knowledge economicsandmythological narratives.Of particularinteresttome isthe representationof
mythical figuresingraphicnovels. Ibelieve thatthe globalizationeffectsof massmediacommunication
uniquelyaffectsthe disseminationof mythical narrativesinpopularformsof writing.Tothe bestof my
knowledge, there hasnotbeenasubstantial efforttostudythese new formsof literature fromthis
perspective.
I propose thatthe relationshipbetweenmythological narrativesandvisual literature createsacultural

I believethatcontinuingmyeducationatConcordiaiscrucial forthe ideationof myproject.I have
