Stan's mother has been diagnosed with leukemia, a type of cancer in which abnormal white blood cells grow in the blood and bone marrow. The doctors and nurses are helping Stan's mother get treatment at the hospital to stop the leukemia from growing further, which requires her to stay at the hospital to receive strong medicine. While his mother receives treatment, Stan sometimes helps by staying with his grandparents so his mother can focus on getting better.
