St. James the Greater was an apostle of Jesus who was born in the First Century and martyred in 44 AD. He was one of the first apostles chosen by Jesus and witnessed many important events in Jesus' life and ministry. St. James is the patron saint of laborers and those with rheumatism, and over 400 churches in England are dedicated to him.
