Catherine of Siena was born in 1347 in Siena, Italy and died in 1380 in Rome. She received her first religious vision at age 6 and had many visions throughout her life. As a tertiary, she starved and physically punished herself. Her achievements included being canonized as a saint, receiving the stigmata, reuniting the Papacy, writing over 400 letters and a book called "Dialogues," and working with the sick and poor. Throughout her life she faced many challenges both trivial and severe.
