All RAEN eyewear is produced by hand from sheets of zyl acetate, the highest grade cellulose acetate available. Acetate is a high
quality plastic originating from the renewable resources of wood pulp and natural cotton fibers (as opposed to petroleum based
injected plastics). Acetate is considered the industry leading raw material used to build high quality, long lasting, and adjustable
frames. Acetate retains its color brightness impeccably over time because its hue is embedded in the material rather than sprayed
on which also prevents any color peeling. Unique aging stabilizers in acetate also prevent fading, yellowing or other discoloration
from UV light or skin contact. Acetate is also hypoallergenic, making it safe for those with sensitive skin.
Opticians always prefer to work with handmade acetate frames.
They offer the wearer more flexibility, since they can be heated and
molded to achieve the optimum fit. Each front shape is cut from a
single flat sheet of acetate, following the design set forward from
the team in our California design studio.
2 : F R A M E
All RAEN Optics are outfitted with Optics by Carl Zeiss CR-39 or
CR-39 Polarized lenses. These industry leading lens provide 100%
UVA / UVB protection. All RAEN lenses can be swapped out for
prescription lenses to transform your optics into customized Rx
optics. Visit any optician to have your RAEN optics outfitted with
prescription lenses.
3 : L E N S
Each temple has a wirecore embedded in it. This piece of hardware
is what holds the temples shape, and keeps your favorite pair of
shades fitting the subtle nuances of your head and face for a long
time to come. The hinge is mounted to the wirecore, giving the
frame it’s strength throughout it’s entire construction.
4 : W I R E C O R E & H I N G E S
Each temple is outfitted with strong, long-lasting hardware. These
temples can be balanced and adjusted to virtually any face shape,
to ensure the perfect fit.
5 : T E M P L E S
We use a variety of hinges that are spec’d to suit the styling and
needs of each frame. We use five barrel hinges for their strength,
spring hinges where we need the flexible fit, and rivet hinges for
their classic styling. All hardware is stainless steel, which makes
them extremely durable and 100% corrosion resistant.

Adding the polarization coating to our CR-39 lens helps to reduce glare off reflective surfaces. Polarization reduces glare from the
ocean surface, car hoods and other reflective surfaces ensuring you clear vision in all of the activities you incorporate into your
daily lifestyle.
C R - 3 9 P O L A R I Z A T I O N
All RAEN Optics are outfitted with Optics by Carl Zeiss CR-39 or CR-39 Polarized lenses. CR-39 is a material that is almost entirely
opaque in the ultraviolet range and transparent in the visible spectrum. It is also highly resistant to abrasions making it a superior
material for Rx and sunglass lenses. The Optics by Carl Zeiss CR-39 lenses that RAEN uses in its eyewear offers optimum visual
comfort with supreme eye protection. RAEN’s Optics by Carl Zeiss CR-39 lenses have a scratch resistant coating. All RAEN Optics
by Carl Zeiss CR-39 lenses provide 100% UVA / UVB protection. CR-39 can sustain continuous use in temperatures up to 100 °C
and up to one hour in 130 °C and is resistant to gamma radiation, material fatigue, aging and most chemicals.

Ideal for bright sunlight. An excellent all purpose lens that offers
neutral color perception in sunny conditions. Offers 100% UVA
and UVB protection, and has a Filter Category rating of 2.
Excels in medium to bright sunlight. Offers a sense of enhanced
contrast in a wide range of lighting conditions. Offers 100% UVA
and UVB protection, and has a Filter Category rating of 3.
S M O K E B R O W N
We offer a variety of gradient lens tones. These lenses offer a
look that is undeniably on trend and work in a variety of light
conditions. All our gradient lens options offer 100% UVA and UVB
protection, and have Filter Category ratings ranging from 2 to 3.
G R A D I E N T
Ideal for medium to bright light. A neutral lens tint for a color
accurate view and a cooling sense. Excellent in hot, sunny
conditions. Offers 100% UVA and UVB protection, and has a Filter
Category rating of 3.
