The document discusses requirements and infrastructure considerations for setting up a large-scale eSobi site. It covers clustering, load balancing, failover, and session persistence strategies. The proposed infrastructure would be highly scalable and fault-tolerant with in-memory session replication and pluggable load balancing policies. A testing infrastructure is also recommended to ensure quality and reliability of the large-scale site.

The document summarizes a presentation by Martine Vandermaes, the chief librarian of the public library in Ostend, Belgium. It describes a project called BEACON that the library undertook in partnership with local artists and organizations to provide digital literacy programs for residents. Through creative workshops, lessons, drop-in sessions, and debates, the programs helped residents improve their digital skills while also exploring their city and connecting with their community. The goal of the programs was to make digital learning accessible and relevant to people's lives in Ostend.
The passage from Malachi 2:1-9 criticizes Israelite priests for failing to honor God and teach the people correctly. It warns that God will punish the priests and their descendants if they do not change. It contrasts the faithful priest Levi, who taught truth and saved people, with the current priests who misuse teachings and corrupt the covenant. The tone expresses God's anger and desire for the priests to listen, honor him, and fulfill their duties of teaching the people.
Mapping Media to the Common Core (18 Oct 2013)Wesley Fryer
Slides for Dr. Wesley Fryer's presentation in Canfield, Ohio, on October 18, 2013. The session description was: Digital literacy today means much more than searching the Internet and using Microsoft Office. To be digitally literate, teachers as well as students need to be able to create and share online a variety of different multimedia products. These media products can be “mapped” to your curriculum, and if you’re in a Common Core state in the United States, to the Common Core State Standards. Interactive Writing, Narrated Art, 5 Photo Stories, Narrated Slideshows, Screencasts, Quick Edit Videos, and eBooks are a few of the media products learners should be able to create and safely share online. In this session, we’ll view different examples of student media products and learn about tools and strategies for helping teachers become digitally literate as “media mappers.” We’ll also explore how librarians and instructional coaches can use the “Mapping Media to the Curriculum” website as a roadmap to help teachers and students create media products as assignments for class and as artifacts in digital portfolios.
