This document summarizes a thesis that examines improving English vocabulary for communicative purposes through listening using information and communication technologies (ICTs). The thesis was conducted with students in their final year of high school in Chile. It implemented a quasi-experimental study to train students' listening comprehension and ability to recognize new words on topics they find interesting. Results showed that students improved their listening skills by over 44% from a pre-test, demonstrating that technological teaching aids can be effective. The thesis discusses theories of language learning and establishes a connection between vocabulary learning and listening skills development using ICT resources.

The document discusses the economic and financial benefits of product stewardship, including job creation, cost savings for taxpayers, and opportunities for business innovation. It notes that product stewardship systems create local jobs in collection, sorting, refurbishing and recycling materials. Recycling creates over 10 times as many jobs as disposal. States that have implemented e-waste laws through extended producer responsibility have seen savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
James went to visit his family in Bogotá city, where he visited his grandmother and danced with his cousin. During his trip he watched a horror movie, ate hot dogs and drank soda.
The document discusses the problems posed by the unintended impacts of consumer products and packaging, noting that products are often designed to become obsolete quickly, there are no incentives for companies to create longer-lasting or more easily recyclable products, and Americans throw away about 1,600 pounds of trash per year. It also explains that the current system relies on extracting new resources and results in toxic substances and other problems entering the waste stream, costing taxpayers millions to manage hazardous waste.
