The Gilded Age- Business, Immigration and Urbanizationmatthewganoe
The Gilded Age in the United States lasted from around 1870 to 1900. This period saw massive industrial growth and the rise of large corporations due to new inventions and industries like steel, oil, railroads, and electricity. Inventors like Edison, Bell, the Wright Brothers, and others developed many modern technologies. Business leaders and industrialists like Rockefeller, Carnegie, and Morgan amassed huge fortunes but often used corrupt business practices that hurt workers and farmers. Labor unions formed to fight for better conditions but faced opposition. The period was marked by rapid change, wealth accumulation by some, but also corruption and poor conditions for many workers.
During the Progressive Era from 1890-1917, monopolies formed by large companies led reformers like Theodore Roosevelt to advocate for trust-busting laws. The Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 and Clayton Antitrust Act of 1914 were passed to prevent monopolies and protect consumers, though they did not help all groups equally. The Progressive movement more broadly sought reforms to politics, education, and social issues during this time of rapid industrialization that worried many Americans.

This document provides a social media strategy for the Museum of Farnham. It recommends using Facebook as the initial social media platform due to staff time constraints. Key points include:
- Social media can help the museum fulfill its objectives by increasing access, interpretation, and engagement.
- The strategy outlines best practices for posting engaging content regularly while monitoring analytics to improve performance.
- Content will promote exhibitions, collections, and events to reach new audiences and drive traffic to the museum website.
- Regular analysis of Facebook insights will track engagement and inform strategies to attract more followers over time.
This document discusses different types of test doubles like mocks, stubs, and fakes used for testing. It defines that mocks are verified stubs that are injected into the system under test and participate in the pass/fail decision by verifying interactions. Stubs provide controlled fake behavior while fakes act as dummy objects. The document also mentions that unit tests should be fast, isolated, repeatable, self-validating, and timely, according to Bob Martin's principles of clean code. It provides a mind map link for further information on mocks.

Developing an instructional strategy requires considering content, activities, and materials. It also requires selecting an appropriate delivery system and sequencing content logically. An instructional strategy describes the general learning components - like gaining attention and providing feedback - and procedures that will enable students to master learning outcomes. These components must be appropriate for the learners' maturity, ability, and type of content. The strategy also involves selecting student groupings, media, and confirming the delivery system. Effective strategies group content into manageable clusters and consider factors like age, complexity, learning type, and time required.

The Gilded Age in the United States lasted from 1870-1900. This period saw massive industrial growth and the rise of large corporations due to new inventions and industries like steel, oil, and railroads. However, corruption was rampant, and many workers faced poor conditions. Large cities struggled with problems caused by rapid urbanization during this time. Reform efforts attempted to address issues faced by immigrants, laborers, farmers, and those living in cities.
The document discusses developing instructional materials. It recommends producing self-instructional materials that allow students to learn without intervention from instructors. The designer's role includes developing materials based on an instructional strategy. Materials should include content, assessments, and course information. Existing materials can be selected or adapted based on goals, learners, context, and technical criteria. The development process involves reviewing strategies and contexts, determining needed components, adapting available materials, developing new materials, and conducting evaluations.
