This study examines differing scholarly opinions on whether a man's joking utterance of divorce counts as a valid divorce under Islamic law. The majority view holds that such an utterance confirms divorce, while others argue it does not. The author argues that the latter view is more supported by evidence and aligns with the intended rulings and wisdom of Islamic law, though the husband should avoid such utterances out of respect for his wife.
