μυθολογύα ο «ψυχοπομπόσ» Ερμόσ
παραδύδοντασ τισ ψυχϋσ των νεκρών
ςτον Χϊροντα για να καταλόξουν ςτο

Ο τελευταύοσ ϊθλοσ του Ηρακλό όταν

Ηρακλόσ πόγε ςτην Ελευςύνα για να
μυηθεύ ςτα Ελευςύνια Μυςτόρια. Αυτό
το ϋκανε για να απαλλϊξει τον εαυτό

του Άδη για να πϊρει τον Κϋρβερο. Ο
Άδησ δϋχτηκε με τον όρο πωσ ο
Ηρακλόσ δεν θα του κϊνει κακό, αν και
ςε ϊλλεσ εκδοχϋσ, ο Ηρακλόσ ϋριξε ϋνα
βϋλοσ ςτον Άδη. Όταν ο Ηρακλόσ

Ποταμού
Όπωσ κϊθε ποταμόσ, ο Αχέρων ϋχει
το κύριο τμόμα του και τουσ
παραποτϊμουσ. Σο κύριο τμόμα του
Αχϋροντα, για πρακτικούσ και
εκπαιδευτικούσ
λόγουσ, ταξινομόθηκε το
ϋτοσ 1992 από τον τοπικό ερευνητό
Χαρϊλαμπο Γκούβα, επικεφαλόσ τησ
ομϊδασ που διϋςχιςε για πρώτη
φορϊ τη χαρϊδρα του Αχέροντα, ςε
ϋξι τμόματα [7], και [8]. Σο
μεγαλύτερο τμόμα του Αχϋροντα
ανόκει ςτο Νομό Πρϋβεζασ [9]. Οι
παραπόταμοι του Aχϋροντα
εκπορεύονται από τουσ Νομούσ
Θεςπρωτύασ και τον Ιωαννύνων

8. Οικολογύα
Πρόγραμμα Natura 2000
Ο Αχϋρων ϋχει χαρακτηριςτεύ περιοχό
ιδιαύτερου κϊλλουσ και πηγό ςημαντικών
πληροφοριών και γνώςεων ςτον τομϋα τησ
περιβαλλοντικόσ εκπαύδευςησ. Σόςο τα
ςτενϊ και οι εκβολϋσ του Αχϋροντα όςο και
η ευρύτερη περιοχό ανόκουν ςτο
Ευρωπαώκό Δύκτυο Προςτατευόμενων
περιοχών φύςη 2000 (Natura 2000)
(κωδικόσ GR2140001). υγκεκριμϋνα ςτην
περιοχό υπϊρχουν 699 εύδη χλωρύδασ εκ
των οπούων τα 449 ςυναντώνται ςτο δϋλτα
και τα 250 ςτα ςτενϊ, ενώ ςτην περιοχό του
Δϋλτα υπϊρχουν 19 τύποι οικότοπων.
Ιδιαύτερα ςημαντικϋσ υγροτοπικϋσ περιοχϋσ
αποτελούν επύςησ το ϋλοσ τησ Αμμουδιϊσ
και το ϋλοσ τησ Βαλανιδορϊχησ ενώ
ςημαντικόσ εύναι και ο αριθμόσ των
ςπϊνιων ειδών πανύδασ τησ περιοχόσ.
Αξιοςημεύωτη ςτην κατηγορύα των ψαριών
εύναι η ύπαρξη του γωβιού, ο οπούοσ
ςυναντϊται μόνο ςτον Αχϋροντα.
9. Πανίδα του ποταμού
Η πανύδα του ποταμού Αχϋροντα
αποτελεύται από ϊφθονα μικρϊ
ψϊρια, χϋλια, καβούρια, βατρϊχια, πεταλού
δεσ και λύγα ακύνδυνα νερόφιδα. πϊνια
μπορεύ να ςυναντόςει κανεύσ βύδρεσ, οι
οπούεσ υπϊρχουν και
ςτον Λούρο ποταμό, τρεφόμενεσ
με πϋςτροφεσ. Σϋλοσ ςτο τελευταύο τμόμα
του Αχϋροντα («Δϊςοσ τησ Περςεφόνησ»)
χαρακτηριςτικϋσ εύναι οι, κρεμϊμενεσ από
τισ ιτιϋσ, αηδονοφωλιϋσ
10. Χλωρίδα του ποταμού
Ση χλωρύδα των ςτενών ςυνθϋτουν
αςφϊκεσ, ςπϊρτα, λαδανιϋσ, φτϋρεσ,
πλατϊνια, ιτιϋσ, αριϋσ και ϊλλα 180
εύδη φυτών και δϋνδρων. Ανϊμεςϊ
τουσ υπϊρχουν και πολλϊ
ςπϊνια, όπωσ η μόλτκια η
πετρώδησ, η ςκαβιόζα η
ηπειρωτικό, η ςκουτελλϊρια η
λειμώνιοσ και αρκετϊ εύδη που
φύονται αποκλειςτικϊ ςτην
Ελλϊδα, όπωσ τα Cerastium
brachypelatum ssp. pindigenum και
Crepis hellenica ssp. hellenica.
