This story presents a dilemma of decision making when a group of children are playing on train tracks and a train is approaching. One child is playing on a disused track while others are on an operational track. One could divert the train to the disused track, saving most children but sacrificing the lone child. Alternatively, one could let the train continue on its path. The story argues that diverting the train would not be the right decision, as it risks the safety of passengers on board and the lone child on the disused track did not assume danger by playing where it was deemed safe. Overall, the story aims to provoke thoughtful reflection on decision making and avoiding hasty choices that could lead to unintended consequences.
