This document summarizes a study that examined the integration of technology to potentially enrich English classrooms through poetry activities. The study involved two activities in an 11th grade English class: 1) Responding to poems by identifying tone through key words and using internet images to represent and negotiate meaning. 2) Authoring multimodal extended metaphor poems using internet images and PowerPoint. The study found that these activities helped students build new understandings of poetry and provided a means for self-expression through non-traditional modes of response and multimodal composition.

The document summarizes research on students' ability to critically evaluate information found online. It discusses how students struggle with skills like determining a website's credibility and relevance. The study aimed to compare the strategies used by students who were successful versus less successful on a task evaluating the reliability of websites. By analyzing think-aloud protocols, researchers hoped to better understand the relationship between offline and online evaluation skills and identify common markers used to judge a site's reliability.
The document summarizes information about cell phones presented by Kerry Nelson. It outlines key features of cell phones like text messaging, cameras, and internet access. It lists pros of cell phones such as communication abilities and cons such as interruptions and costs. The document also provides information on major cell phone manufacturers, carriers, usage differences between men and women, phone and plan costs, and resources for additional information.
This document describes a formative design experiment that tested different models of professional development to improve teachers' ability to teach online reading comprehension. The study involved 17 middle school teachers who received training in Internet Reciprocal Teaching (IRT) through one of three coaching models: peer coaching, literacy coaching, or online coaching. Analysis of teacher surveys and interviews found that while students gained skills in searching strategies, they struggled with critical evaluation and synthesis. Teachers also wanted more training in assessing student progress. Feedback indicated the online coaching model provided the most structured support, while peer coaching lacked direction and workload distribution was uneven. Overall, the study aimed to identify effective practices for professional development focused on online reading comprehension instruction.
This document discusses different types of passes in basketball, proper dribbling technique, and rules of the game, as well as mentioning that basketball was invented by James Naismith.
This document discusses how literacy and technology intersect through digital storytelling. It suggests using digital storytelling to help students locate, evaluate, synthesize and communicate information, as well as build academic vocabulary and strong content knowledge. Questions are posed about how to embed online reading comprehension into classrooms and how to measure knowledge gains.

The document summarizes the findings of the 2009 CountryRep study by Reputation Institute, which measured the external reputations and self-images of 34 countries. Key findings include: Switzerland and Canada had the highest external reputations, while Russia had the lowest. Australia, Canada, and Finland rated themselves most favorably. Countries with strong reputations in areas like business, lifestyle, and beauty were seen as most attractive places to invest in, live in, work in, and visit.

This document outlines Switzerland's brand identity and communication strategy. It defines Switzerland's present brand image as traditional but in need of refreshing to better represent the country's reality and innovation. The future brand image focuses on two core messages of self-determination and a secure future to position Switzerland uniquely. All external communication will convey these messages through a trustworthy and credible tone along with consistent use of Switzerland's logo, colors, and visual elements to portray a confident national brand.
