The Marriage of Figaro, K.492 is an opera in four acts composed in 1786 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with an Italian libretto written by Lorenzo Da Ponte. The opera is based on a stage comedy by Pierre Beaumarchais from 1778. It tells the story of Figaro and Susanna's wedding day, which is interrupted by Count Almaviva's attempts to assert his rights to Susanna on her wedding night as per the ancient droit du seigneur.
