Peter Senge is a senior lecturer at MIT known for his contributions to the field of organizational learning. He identified five disciplines that are essential for organizations to expand their capacity for learning: personal mastery, where individuals improve their personal skills; mental models, examining assumptions that influence actions; shared vision, where a group aspires to the same goal; team learning, where teams work together effectively; and systems thinking, understanding how various components interact as part of a whole. Senge's work has helped organizations understand how to continuously enhance their abilities to achieve their goals.
