1. Biography I didn’t choose teaching. It chose me. As a member of a family of teachers, seeking a teaching degree was a natural progression after I graduated from high school. After spending time in a classroom and then in the private sector, no job was as fulfilling as teaching. So, I found my way back to the profession. Subbing for intervention specialists created an interest in special education. After obtaining a position with Columbus City Schools, I completed my professional license as well as my Masters’ degree at Ohio Dominican; then, I re-entered the classroom as a high-incidence teacher. As an educator, I have taught all core classes in a fourth grade classroom of nondisabled students as well as in a sixth/seventh grade classroom of alternately assessed special education students. While at Brookhaven High School, I have taught Biology, Physical Science, American Literature, and U.S. Studies in a High-Incidence Resource Room. During my eight years with Columbus City Schools, all of my evaluations have received the highest possible ratings. I am committed to incorporating 21st Century learning opportunities into my daily lessons. Science and technology have been the focus of my professional development and I am committed to creating opportunities for cross-curricular learning.
