This document announces a 5-day experimental workshop from March 4-8, 2014 at the School of Arts & Aesthetics in New Delhi. Auto-Ethnography Of Engagement Through Dance
This document discusses the author's use of auto-ethnography and dance as research methods in their anthropological fieldwork within the Swiss contemporary dance scene over 10 years.
The first part advocates for using dance as a practice-based research method and auto-ethnography to convey knowledge in a more accessible way. The author realized their initial research question did not address the concerns of dance practitioners. They began pursuing more collaborative forms of research.
The second part discusses how auto-ethnography allows the author to address research participants by reinscribing their own discourse in positionality and giving space to sensations.
