Definition
What is social studies?
The study of individuals, communities,
systems, and their interactions across
time and place that prepares students
for local, national, and global civic life
.
Purpose
Social studies encourages students to explore human
experiences through inquiry, critical thinking, and analysis of
diverse perspectives. It prepares them for active civic
engagement, emphasizing human rights and global
responsibilities to help create a just and collaborative world.
The study of places and the relationships
between people and their environments.
Government
Create interactive content like quizzes, polls, or
surveys to engage your audience. Interactive
content encourages active participation and
makes viewers feel more involved.
The "study of the production, distribution, and consumption
of goods and services. Economics studies how individuals
businesses, governments, and nations make choices. It can
help students learn how to budget and save for different
goals, and it can also help them decide when they might
need to borrow money. "
The study of past events. History, one of the main branches of
social studies, is fascinating to study. Because of its focus on
the past it can be an invaluable tool for any sort of social or
political engagement we might want to consider. From voting,
to education reform, history helps us think about – and
hopefully learn from – what has come before us. .
Global Connections
Global Connections builds on the multi-dimensional
and continuously expanding interest in globalization,
focusing on 'connectedness' and providing accessible,
concrete studies across a broad range of areas such
as social and cultural life, and economic, political and
technological activities.
