1. SMART CITY
BHUBANESWAR
Bhubaneswar is the “City of Temples”. It needs to be clean
and its air should be pure. To be a smart city, Bhubaneswar
requires the unconditional efforts of its citizens.
First, in order to be a smart city, Bhubaneswar should be clean
and green. The middle class people should keep aside a small
sum of money for plantation purpose. Not only plantation, but
also taking care of the greenery around them. The city will
then look “smart” because it will wear a “green dress” just like
“black suit” worn by executives.
Second, the roads in the city should be widened, not by felling
trees, but by shifting the vendors and the people who
encroach the roads to a separate habitat. In many parts of the
city, the roads have been widened. But some places like the
road to Shishu Bhawan, road to Railway station, etc. Places
where widening of road is not possible by emigrating people,
fly-overs should be built. Foot-over bridge should be built at
regular intervals in the “downtown” of the city like Janpath
starting from Raj Mahal to Acharya Vihar.
2. Third, wifi should be fast and communication system should
be enhanced. People should have access to 3G or 4G
services.
Power cuts must be minimised. If not, then at least, solar
energy should be used to produce electricity just like the
village Barapitha on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
Parking facilities should be improved. People park
haphazardly and this causes disturbance. Proper underground
parking or roof-top parking should be there. Or at the least,
parking on roads with proper management should be made.
All these would enable Bhubaneswar to be a perfect smart
city.
