Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldarts
The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartwork
Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

Throughout all of my research and meeting with a wedding planner, I have seen the stress and hard work planners go through to make their client’s dream wedding come true; Therefore, wedding planners have to come up with innovative ideas while sticking to their client’s budget.\n
I have always been interested in planning events and doing things that are creative. In the future, I may pursue wedding planning as my career. I also want my wedding to be near perfect so if I learn how to plan weddings, I can plan one for myself and I won’t have to hire a planner.\n
The tradition of a white wedding is credited to Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria chose to wear white when marrying Prince Albert. She was not the first royal bride to wear white but the first of the modern era. White was usually the traditional color of royal mourning. Previously brides would wear the best of the most expensive new clothes they could afford. Later, United Kingdom brides bought a special dress that could be worn another time as an evening gown or for other special occasions. The same case occurred to American brides as well. Brides started to wear a traditional white wedding dresses in the mid-twentieth century in the United Kingdom, which carried this tradition into the United States.\n
This is a picture of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert when they got married. As you can see, the white traditional dress was worn by Victoria and she had a long flowing vail. Prince Albert wore his best clothes that he had in his closet because back in the day they didn’t have the options of what to wear like today.\n
On the left is a customized satin dress with lace, beading and tulle. It was made to come in ivory/white and it is only 145 dollars. On the right is a dress made by Allure Bridal Company. It comes in white/ivory, has soft flowers embellished with lace appliqués and a ruchéd taffeta band to define the waist. This dress is a lot more expensive than the one on the left because it is made by a popular designer. The tradition of white wedding dresses carries on to this day, just a lot more expensive and fancier.\n
This is an advertisement from Allure Bridal Company for their Spring 2010 collection.\n
Formal weddings were desired by mothers of the brides after World War I. This was the case for mothers who did not have a permanent social secretary. A wedding planner would then be hired who then could coordinate the printer, florist, caterer, and seamstress.\n
Marriage officiant: minister, priest, rabbi, or imam\nbest man: close male friend or relative of groom\nmaid of honor: close female friend or relative of bride\nfather of bride: symbolically “gives away” the bride\ngroomsmen: one or more close male attendants \nbridesmaids: one or more close female attendants \nflower girl: young girl who scatters flowers in front of the bridal party\nring bearer: young boy who carries the wedding rings\nushers: helpers who assist with the organization\n
This is a picture of all of the people actually in the wedding, so as you can see there are all of the bridesmaids, the bride, flower girl, and maid of honor to the left. To the right are the groomsmen, the groom, ring bearer, the best man and the mother and father of the bride and groom.\n
The brides and grooms separate sides to show which family belongs to who. The guests/close friends are seated the same way. The two front rows are close family and friends.\n
\n
In every wedding there is a traditional order when the bridal parties come out for the ceremony. First the ushers and/or groomsmen escort the grandparents of the bride and groom to their seats. Then they escort the mother of the groom and mother of the bride to their seats. And lastly the bridesmaids enter escorted by the groomsmen.\n
This is a picture of the bride’s side of the family, with her husband on the left.\n
The maid or matron of honor enters next, either by herself or by the best man. Next, the ring bearer followed or accompanied by the flower girl enters. After this order, the bride will walk down the isle escorted by her father to music, after the ceremony is finished guests throw out flower petals, confetti, birdseed, or rice.\n
After the events taken for the ceremony, the events shift to the reception. Many hors d’oeuvres are served to start followed by a formal dinner. Toasts or speeches are given in honor of the couple. In some cases the bride and grooms’ maid of honor and best man make the speech. The first dance by the couple is usually danced to their favorite love song. The father daughter dance is a tradition that shows the father’s acceptance of his daughter’s marriage. \n
The cutting of the wedding cake signifies the couple’s fertility and a good luck charm for a happy marriage. The newly weds would cut their two pieces of cake together for one another and feed each other the first bite.\n
Bride will throw her bouquet of flowers from behind to all single women. The women who catches it, will have luck in getting married next. The groom throws the garter the same way and then the single man that catches that is supposed to put it on the leg of the woman who caught the bouquet. When the wedding is over, it’s honeymoon time!\n
Wedding planners can take advantage of discounts available to the trade only. A good planner can help save a lot of time, stress, money, and effort for the bride.\n
These are professionally taken photos from a wedding.\n
Wedding planners basically do the walking and talking for their client. Instead of having the client visit photographers, musicians, caterers, and vendors, the planner takes care of that for them. Planners are resourceful and can get discounts off of certain things since they are a self-managed business. They provide checklists to go by throughout the planning, set deadlines to follow through with and are very experienced. They need to make sure they send out save the dates and invitations to all guests so they have lots of time for their guests to rsvp. When the guests RSVP, the planner then has a head count for food, favors, etc.\n
This a sample invitation.\n
Sample RSVP\n
Sample save the date.\n
Wedding planners have a lot of responsibilities. They need to keep track of all of the dates and deadlines by making a detailed schedule. They find the vendors, photographers, musicians/dj, caterer, florist, cake designer, and more. Some venues provide tables and chairs and even food, but most people want the best so they don’t take everything the venue offers. Also a good wedding planner needs to visit the reception cite and all of the people she hired for the wedding. To stay on the client’s budget, the planner must be good with finances and complete all balances on time. A planner must make all deadlines and scheduled appointments as well.\n
This is an example of a venue that a wedding could be held at; it is the Rivercrest Golf Club & Preserve in Phoenixville, PA.\n
Wedding favors, place cards, and center pieces must all be in the right places and make sure that every one attending the wedding are getting what they should be getting. (Flowers, favors, name tag at table.etc) The planner must coordinate dress fittings and other necessary appointments and create innovative vision for couples ceremony.\n
Managing your own business comes with many responsibilities. A business license and business card need to be purchased in order for your own personal business to be applicable. After the license and card are confirmed, the business must be registered. ALL wedding planners must go through a bridal training course to make sure they know every detail about weddings so they can benefit their client to the fullest extent. Advertising is the best way to make a business grow so creating a website will help and show others what you have to offer. \n
To be a successful wedding planner, you must be extremely patient and calm with the client. If something goes wrong, the best bet is to fix it right away so the client could still rely on you. To get a secure client, give and get the best service for the lowest prices as possible to stay on THEIR budget. Staying under or right on budget is the most difficult thing about planning a wedding. The bride wants everything to be expensive and perfect, but it is possible to find very similar or the same things they want a whole lot cheaper. It is beneficial for the planner to stay organized and compose a wedding portfolio to keep all information together. Handling finances is extremely important because everyone who the planner hired needs to be paid in a timely manner.\n
This is a sample wedding planner’s business card. It has all of their information on it and all of their skills listed on the right hand side of the card so people know what this wedding planner is capable of.\n
An average wedding in America is $29,000. The marriage officiant fee is $500. Reception site rental is $2500. The food on average is $40 per plate, but most weddings have food a lot more then just $40. The wedding that i went to was $200 a plate. After the amount of people attending is determined you have to multiply the plate per person price by how many people and that is how much is spent on food. An average photographer’s price is $2,000. A dj or band is approximately $1,500. Flowers are $750. The cake is around $500. Rings for the bride and groom are $5,000. Dress/tux is averaged out to be $500, and open bar is $3,500. Together that is $20,750, but for a only 100 people it is pretty modest. Any of the prices vary depending on the bridal party’s budget.\n
Average engagement time is after 16 months. \n2.4 million couples wed every year in the US; 6200 a day. \nAn average age of a bride in US is 25 and groom 27.5\n72 billion dollars spent a year on weddings\nJune, August & September are the most popular months of marriage \nThe wedding industry is a very rich industry even though it seems small. It is a 50 billion dollar industry!! Only 60% of brides change their last names to their husbands after marriage. Traditionally a honeymoon is held in a tropical warm place away from home to celebrate newlyweds. Las Vegas, Bahamas, Hawaii, Jamaica and U.S. Virgin Islands are the most popular destinations for honeymooners. The honeymoons are about a 12 billion dollar a year industry.\n
For my application, I constructed a scrapbook of my dream wedding. I put everything that I would want to be in my wedding including the colors, table setting, cake, venue, etc. I also made a video on the basic components of planning a wedding.\n

Wedding planning is a very stressful job for the planner and the client. Everything needs to be done in gradual steps and on time. If there is a budget it is sometimes very hard to stay right on it and its hard to find the best things for the lowest price. Overall, a wedding planner is the best and most helpful person while planning your own wedding!\n
