Hagia Sophia, built in 532 AD, was the Cathedral of Holy Wisdom located in Constantinople and commissioned by the Byzantine emperor Justinian. Known as the "Holy Wisdom", Hagia Sophia was one of the most important churches in Constantinople and the Eastern Orthodox Church until 1453 when it was converted into a mosque.
