This document discusses different types of relief sculpture including high relief, low relief, and intaglio relief. High relief projects far from the background surface, while low relief remains close to the surface. Intaglio relief carves into the surface. As an example, students will create a 6x6 inch relief tile telling a personal narrative using one or a combination of these relief styles.
