Two Salt Lake City-based flight attendants for SkyWest Airlines, Brynn Mudliar and Jill Anderson, received the 2011 Wilderness Rescue Hero Award from the Red Cross for rescuing an injured hiker. While hiking last summer, they came upon a hiker who had fallen 40 feet from a waterfall and was suffering from multiple injuries. Using their first aid training from SkyWest, they immediately provided assistance to the injured hiker until help arrived. SkyWest officials praised the flight attendants for displaying exceptional presence of mind, skills, and compassion in saving the hiker's life, and exemplifying the professionalism of their InFlight team.

SkyWest Airlines’ “Hero” Flight Attendants Honored
at Salt Lake City Red Cross Luncheon
For Immediate Release
St. George, Utah, April 13, 2011 – SkyWest Airlines, a subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc
(NASDAQ: SKYW) is proud of two Salt Lake City-based Flight Attendants who received the
2011 Wilderness Rescue Hero Award at the annual Salt Lake City Red Cross Heroes Luncheon
today. The courageous efforts of Brynn Mudliar and Jill Anderson, along with two other
volunteers, led to the rescue of an injured hiker in Bell’s Canyon last summer.
“These two flight attendants displayed exceptional presence of mind, skill and
compassion that ultimately saved a life,” said Chip Childs, SkyWest Airlines President and
COO. “Brynn and Jill are part of an exceptional InFlight team at SkyWest Airlines, and we
congratulate them on their Red Cross Heroes Honor.”
Mudliar and Anderson were hiking approximately 20 miles south of Salt Lake City when
they found a hiker who had fallen from a waterfall 40 feet above and was suffering from multiple
head and internal injuries. The pair immediately sprang into action, relying on their training as
SkyWest Flight Attendants to assist with the emergency.
“We couldn’t be happier to know that our Flight Attendants used the training they learned
at SkyWest to help someone in need,” said Sonya Wolford, vice president – InFlight. “Brynn and
Jill are great examples of the type of people that are part of our Flight Attendant group.”
All SkyWest flight attendants are certified in CPR, First Aid, and are trained to handle a
variety of emergency medical equipment. They’re also regularly trained as first responders to a
myriad of health and safety situations.
Anderson and Mudliar were chosen to be honored out of 121 submissions.
