the seven deadly sins, also known as the capital vices or
cardinal sins, are a classification of vices that were origi-
nally used in early Christian teachings to educate and
instruct followers concerning (immoral) fallen man’s
tendency to sin. The Roman Catholic Church divided sin
into two principal categories: “venial,” which are rela-
tively minor, and could be forgiven through any sacra-
ment of the Church, and the more severe “capital” or
mortal sin. Mortal sins destroyed the life of grace, and
created the threat of eternal damnation unless either ab-
solved through the sacrament of confession, or forgiven
through perfect contrition on the part of the penitent.
Beginning in the early 14th century, the popularity of the
seven deadly sins as a theme among European artists
of the time eventually helped to ingrain them in many
areas of Christian culture and Christian consciousness
in general throughout the world.*

lust ( intense or unbridled sexual desire) In front of an
illustrated red light district, I tried to riff off the Loon-
ey Tunes trope of hearts protruding from the eyes and
tongue hanging out of the mouth. Being that I am using
my own personal vices, I threw in my most unexpected
celebrity crush, Steve Buscemi. I’m married not dead.
THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS
Effortlessly oozing sex.
gluttony (over-indulgence, excess in eating). I chose to
surround myself with popcorn, my favourite snack and
something I can eat and never get full on. My over in-
dulgences also include chocolate and THC gummies.
Cartooned my eyes to relay the thoughtlessness that
comes with gorging yourself on a Coscto size bag of
popcorn. Look, I run a lot. Carbs are super important.
THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS
Setting up and having a snack.
greed (avarice, wealth and/or material gain). I used this
specific picture because I was told this is the exact face I
make when something is taken from me. Dragons hoard
treasure. I hoard running shoes, never sated with how
many I already own. But I actually really need them.
They say you should rotate between runs, so if you think
about it I probably don’t have enough.
THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS
This sin might have been my favourite to shoot. I excel at looking irritated.
sloth (laziness and/or idleness).Baskets of unfolded
laundry, unread books and uncompleted homework.
When I’m being slothful, all of this remains untouched.
To represent this, I physically took a nap on all the things
I haven’t done. Though, rest is super important. You’re
better creatively when rested. I am sure this tabloid
came on time. It’s fine. You’re fine.
THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS
Looking my absolute best. Trying to get that perfect balance between sleepy and slovenly.
wrath (anger). My daughters inability to throw away
wrappers, and the natural consequences of that: ants.
It’s better to not keep things bottled up. Stress can kill
you.
THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS
Not a lot to the process here. Just lots of yelling.
envy (jealousy). I was born in Kansas City. I’ve grown
up in Kansas City. I’m jealous of anyone who is 50 miles
outside of Kansas City. Me, outside of the Cheesecake
factory to visualize being stuck somewhere in the mid-
west, very clearly not where I would like to be, France.
Which is incredibly unfair. Why does everyone else get
to travel to these amazing places? This is bullshit.
THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS
Tough to look jealous while doing your favourite thing, eating baguettes.

pride (vanity, excessive high opinion of self). I put myself
in front of the Colosseum, a building historically as-
sociated with competition and athletic prowess. Hon-
estly, do I need to say anything with this one? Look at
those arms. Straight killin’ it. I am a champion. I will not
apologize.

Took the photos at the gym. How I dress for a normal work out.
