This document discusses early release parts for the 2010 hardware upgrade of Allison 1000 and 2000 product family transmissions. It describes modifications to shafts, filters, clutches, valves, and other components to accommodate the upgrade. The parts provide the same functionality but with improved features like reduced lubricant flow restrictions. Most parts are backwards compatible but must be replaced as sets. Service information is provided on phasing out old parts and maintaining supply for repairs.

SUBJECT: Early release, beginning in July 2009, of some components included in the planned 2010 Uprate
hardware change
MODELS AFFECTED: 1000 and 2000 Product Families Transmissions
Introduction:
Hardware modifications are planned to take place for the 2010 Uprate Start of Production (SOP) 1000 and
2000 Product Families Transmissions equipped with Allison 4th Generation Controls. In order to streamline the
manufacturing changeover process, Allison Transmission is implementing early parts that are interchangeable
backwards prior to the officially scheduled start of the production date. These changes have been implemented
in the shafts, filters, rotating clutch assembly, valve body and the main case­to­converter housing separator
plate. The details of these early release parts and their specific interchangeability issues will be described in the
pages that follow.
The electronic parts catalog available on the Allison extranet will reflect the changes in the appropriate groups.
Continue to use Allison unit history and the electronic Bill of Materials (BOM) that describes the content of a given
1000 and 2000 Product Families transmission for specific parts ordering information.
Interchangeability:
All of the early release parts described in this SIL are interchangeable backwards under certain circumstances.
Some parts will be limited to the start of production 04i hardware modifications S/N breakpoint (see SIL
13­1K2K­04) and some back to the initial SOP.

Interchangeability:
CAUTION: 2010 Uprate shaft parts must be used as a set. Replacing individual shafts with 2010 Uprate
shaft parts to service Pre 2010 Uprate transmissions, so that a mix of Pre 2010 Uprate and 2010 Uprate
shafts are operating together, may cause transmission damage.
If replacement of any of the Pre 2010 Uprate shafts is required, you will need to order all of the shafts listed in
Table 1. 2010 Uprate shafts must be operated in sets to achieve reduced spin losses and maintain balanced
lube pressure regulation.
Parts Modifications:
The lube orifice size has been reduced in diameter in the shafts and cannot be interchanged with the individual
component of the set of shafts (beginning with S/N 6310948989). Refer to Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 4
Service Parts Information:
All Pre 2010 Uprate shafts listed in Table 1 will be completely cancelled from production and maintained for service.
The Pre 2010 Uprate shafts will be available for purchase from the Allison Parts Distribution Center (PDC).

The Pre 2010 Uprate suction filters have been completely cancelled. This is a use stock change and once the
stock is depleted, only the 2010 Uprate filters will be available for purchase from the Allison PDC.

Interchangeability:
All early release 2010 Uprate parts are interchangeable backwards. The housing is backwards compatible to the
S/N breakpoints of the MY06 hardware design change (see SIL 13­1K2K­05).
Parts Modifications:
Changes have taken place in the physical appearance of the parts found in Table 3. Please refer to Figure 7 and
Figure 8.
Service Parts Information:
The Pre 2010 Uprate parts have been completely cancelled. This is a use stock change and once stock is depleted,
only the 2010 Uprate parts will be available for purchase from the Allison PDC .

Interchangeability:
The 2010 Uprate front support assembly listed in Table 4 is not interchangeable backwards.
The 2010 Uprate separator plate (P/N 29546315) and the Pre 2010 Uprate separator plate (P/N 2954118) are
the same, with the exception of one hole location and the size of the slot above the hole. The plate remains
interchangeable back to the 04i Front Support SOP (SIL 13–1K2K­04).
Parts Modifications:
The early release 2010 Uprate front support assembly (P/N 29549723) listed in Table 4 uses the same front support
casting (P/N 29542795) as the Pre 2010 Uprate front support assembly (P/N 29547605), and the 2010 Uprate
(early release) ground sleeve and bearing (P/N 29546302). The 2010 Uprate (early release) ground sleeve and
bushing (reduced lube orifice) creates the need to change the assembly P/N (beginning with S/N 6310948989).
Please refer to Figure 9 and Figure 10 .
Service Parts Information:
The Pre 2010 Uprate front support assembly is completely cancelled from production and maintained for service.
The 2010 Uprate and the Pre 2010 Uprate front support assembly will be available for purchase from the Allison
PDC.

Interchangeability:
The 2010 Uprate TCC solenoid retainer listed in Table 5 is interchangeable backwards to the S/N breakpoints of
the 4th Generation controls hardware design change (see SIL 14­1K2K­05).
Parts Modifications:
The 2010 Uprate TCC solenoid retainer has been modified to accommodate the 2010 Uprate hardware design
change. A hole was added to accommodate the additional 2010 Uprate accumulator. Please refer to Figure 11.
Service Parts Information:
The Pre 2010 Uprate TCC solenoid retainer is completely cancelled. This is a use stock change and once stock is
depleted, only the 2010 Uprate TCC solenoid retainer will be available for purchase from the Allison PDC.
