The document then provides common mistakes to avoid, such as lack of communication, disorganization, and lack of accountability or feedback. It offers quick wins companies can implement, such as using clear job descriptions, providing timely communication to candidates, and being prepared for interviews. Finally, it discusses how to create inclusive and safe hiring spaces, and how to streamline processes through automation.

This session was presented at SocialHRCamp Vancouver 2023 (June 15, 2023) at BCIT's Tech Collider by Alexandra Phizicky - https://www.linkedin.com/in/phizicky/
Leadership is hard, we all know this. There is a ton of responsibility and pressure, lots of people counting on you, and the hours can be brutal. But one thing we don't often consider is that Leadership is hard because, when done well, it's... well, boring. Good leaders don't swan dive into passion projects. They don't unload on their teams about how hard their job is. They don't bring all of themselves to work. Good leaders stay the course. They are routined, consistent, and measured, knowing that that is what their teams need from them in good times and in uncertain ones. As we brace ourselves for ongoingly tumultuous economic times, let's explore the platitudes of leadership that, when performed repeatably, over time, create trust, alignment, and efficiency in any company.

Break-Out: Getting Working Moms to Work For You - Jess Von Bank (SocialHRCamp...SocialHRCamp
The New York Times called it "The Primal Scream." What you heard when working moms threw in the pandemic towel. Child care, school, and work can't all win in a pandemic, SO WOMEN LOST. 5.4 MILLION JOBS, to be precise.
Pandemic Realities:
32% of women ages 25-44 said child care was the reason for unemployment.
9% drop in labor force participation by unpartnered mothers, the largest among all groups of parents.
48% of Black mothers said the pandemic impacted their ability to pay for necessities, like utilities, housing, and food.
Women of color saw the worst unemployment rates of all.
69% of mothers experienced adverse health effects related to pandemic worry and stress.
This isn't burnout, this is betrayal.
HOW CAN YOU CREATE AN EXCEPTIONAL CANDIDATE AND EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE FOR WORKING MOMS? How can you bring them back into the workforce on THEIR terms, not yours?
We cannot see economic recovery and the full potential of business and human performance without addressing this betrayed segment of the workforce. Jess Von Bank drops truth bombs about working moms: how to attract, hire, and keep them and how to create conditions where they flourish and thrive.

It notes that employee engagement matters more than ever as many workers are considering changing jobs. A hybrid work model needs to focus on connection, trust, and safety for employees. Technology can play a role in driving focus, connection, and engagement, but should be deployed to support people and processes, not just implemented. The document advocates shifting to thinking about human capabilities rather than human capital.

Leadership is… Boring - Alexandra PhizickySocialHRCamp

Mega Session: Employee Engagement in the "Now of Work" - Jason Averbook (Soci...SocialHRCamp
The document discusses challenges related to employee engagement in hybrid work environments and the role of technology. It notes that employee engagement matters more than ever as many workers are considering changing jobs. A hybrid work model needs to focus on connection, trust, and safety for employees. Technology can play a role in driving focus, connection, and engagement, but should be deployed to support people and processes, not just implemented. The document advocates shifting to thinking about human capabilities rather than human capital.

https://www.humanresourcestoday.com/frs/26903483/the-rules-do-apply--navigating-hr-compliance
HR Compliance is like a giant game of whack-a-mole. Once you think your company is compliant with all policies and procedures documented and in place, there’s a new or amended law, regulation, or final rule that pops up landing you back at ‘start.’ There are shifts, interpretations, and balancing acts to understanding compliance changes. Keeping up is not easy and it’s very time consuming.
This is a particular pain point for small HR departments, or HR departments of 1, that lack compliance teams and in-house labor attorneys. So, what do you do?
The goal of this webinar is to make you smarter in knowing what you should be focused on and the questions you should be asking. It will also provide you with resources for making compliance more manageable.
Objectives:
• Understand the regulatory landscape, including labor laws at the local, state, and federal levels
• Best practices for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective compliance programs
• Resources and strategies for staying informed about changes to labor laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
