part of 350.org’s Day of Climate Action, with speakers from the Swinomish Indian
Tribal Community, People for Puget Sound, and Forest Ethics
Connecting the dots: ­Tar sands oil in Washington State – Already, about 6% of the oil
refined and used in WA State is from the Canadian tar sands, which is a lot more toxic and
destructive. We’re demanding a Tar Sands Free Washington State
­Higher risk to the Puget Sound region ­ There are plans to bring more tar sands oil to
WA State via pipeline and oil tankers endangering our land, air, and water.
­Expanding tar sands exploitation– Shell is one of the main players in the Alberta tar
sands operation and is planning to substantially expand its production capacity.
