Toward a Future-Proof Product Control FunctionCognizant
This document discusses the need for investment banks to rethink their product control departments given increasing regulatory scrutiny, interconnectedness of functions, and data complexities. It proposes establishing a new operating model and framework for product control with a focus on transparent and accurate valuations. Specifically, it recommends developing governance and operating models, a data acquisition and control framework, standardized processes for P&L, independent price validation, and funding allocation, as well as integrated workflow management. This would help address current challenges with people, processes, systems, and data across product control functions.
The document discusses strategies for finance departments to become more strategic business partners rather than back-office administrators. It notes that the pendulum has swung from finance being financial policemen in the 1990s to now focusing more on controls due to governance regulations. However, finance departments can become more strategic by acting as chief focus officers to help companies prioritize, building external networks to find opportunities, and integrating with other departments to better understand the business.

Corporate Governance a Balanced Scorecard approach with KPIs between BOD, Exe...Chris Rigatuso
This document proposes using a Balanced Scorecard approach to improve corporate governance. It involves implementing three integrated scorecards: a Board Balanced Scorecard to clarify the board's strategic role and information needs, a Corporate Balanced Scorecard for the CEO to define and manage strategy, and an Executive Balanced Scorecard for aligning executives. The scorecards would provide transparency into strategic performance and non-financial drivers of value to strengthen oversight roles.
Accounting scandals typically involve executives misusing funds, overstating revenues or assets, or underreporting expenses or liabilities. This can amount to fraud. Common causes include executives temporarily reducing stock prices to facilitate company takeovers for personal gain or feeling pressured to alter financials for personal benefit. Some of the largest corporate accounting scandals include Enron inflating assets by $11 billion, WorldCom overstating assets by $3.8 billion, and Tyco executives stealing $150 million and inflating income by $500 million. These scandals often result in bankruptcy, large fines, and executive prison sentences.

The document outlines objectives and processes for purchases and cash disbursement systems. It describes manual systems including document flows, roles, and controls. It then discusses how computer-based accounting systems automate tasks and impact segregation of duties, authorization, records, and verification controls. Automation can consolidate tasks but requires greater supervision, access controls, and verification of computer programs and data.
The dimensional modeling process is iterative and requires input from various stakeholders to design a chart of accounts structure that meets business needs. The process begins with an initial data model and then drills down to define each element, address data issues, and transform the data model based on requirements. Dimensional modeling helps make databases easier to understand by viewing them as cubes with multiple dimensions.

3. Development History
Initial Stage(1993-1996)
Inception
Since our inception in 1993, we
have overcome many hurdles to
expand our business presence
across China, benefiting from our
foothold in the affluent Pearl River
Delta region and the economic
symbiosis between Shenzhen and
Hong Kong.
Growth(1997-2002)
a leap forward
Following the return of Hong Kong
to China in 1997, we seized the
opportunity to accelerate our
business expansion. With the
strength of a direct sales model, we
expanded into the high-end market
segment with a range of high-
quality and responsive services.
Rooted in southern China, we
began to extend our business
reach to the rest of China. In 2002,
we set up our headquarters in
Shenzhen.
Rapid Growth(2003-2011)
adapting to changes
In 2003, SF started to rent all-cargo
aircrafts to elevate the transportation
capability. In 2006, SF reshuffled its
organization structure to improve the
management efficiency, introduce
regional management mode and
invented the unique five-element
management system. In 2009, SF
Airlines started operations and
tapped into the global market.
Transformation(2012-Present)
Dreams Take Off
While sub-dividing businesses, evolving
into a general logistics solution provider,
and elevating pharmaceutical transport
capability, express freight capability, cold
chain capability, and e-commerce
logistics service capability, SF further
optimized its organizational structure,
promoted the Business Group
management mode to improve service
quality and share management power
internally. As the SF Best, community
Heike stores, and SF Home have been
put into operation, SF also expands to
financial businesses and evolves into a
multi-businesscompany.

Test Standard
While growing rapidly, SF has vigorously fulfilled its social responsibility. We
have worked with relevant governing bodies to establish the express industry
environmental protection system to regulate carbon emission for express
companies. In May 2014, the state post bureau released the China Express
Company Carbon Emission Test Standard. In addition, we have launched a
series of internal energy-saving measures to promote green operations and
environmental-protection system. In the future, SF will continue promoting
green operations in the industry and working closely with interested parties to
build a green and sustainable business environment.
