Service learning involves volunteering in the community to help others and reflecting on the experience to gain knowledge. It can be done by people of all ages anywhere in the world, from the classroom to online. Students benefit from service learning by developing positive attitudes, good character, problem solving skills, community connections, and social awareness. To get started, students find a volunteer project related to their studies, plan and prepare for it, carry it out, then share and reflect on their experience.

2. What is service-learning? It is an activity for the community that people of all ages can do. It is an educational experience. It is something you reflect on in order to know more about helping others. It is something that helps you grow as a person.

3. Who does service-learning? Anybody! All you have to do is… get involved in an activity that will connect service to a learning activity. This will be service-learning!

4. Where can service-learning happen? Service learning can happen anywhere. You can do service from your classroom, at home, on the internet, or in the community. You do service-learning for anyone, anywhere in the whole world!

5. Why should you do service-learning? It gives you a positive attitude towards school. It gives you good morals and respect. It helps you with problem solving. It gives you strong connections to the community. It gives you awareness of social issues.

6. How can you do service-learning? Find a project that will help the community and also have to do with learning. Make sure the project is something that you like. Follow the steps of service-learning… Plan you project. Prepare to do it. Do your project. Share you project. Reflect on your project.

7. How can you share your service-learning projects? Take pictures of your project. Write down your feelings before, after, and as you complete your project. Have your teacher help you create a blog at blogspot.com so you can share your project with others. Tell others how you did your project so that they can do it too!
