During my final semester at St. John's University I took a PR Campaigns class. Together, my classmates and I developed "Socks For Soldiers", a campaign that raised money to buy socks for soldiers stationed abroad. This is the copy for the solicitation letter sent to university alumni.

The City of Weldon Spring Prepares for Senior Day Event
On Monday, October 6th
the City of Weldon Spring will host their 14th
Annual Senior Day
Celebration. The event will be located at City Hall (5401 Independence Road) in the red barn
from 3-6 pm. The event is set up for approximately 150-200 guests and those who attend will be
able to enjoy refreshments, prizes, and entertainment. The City has decided to continue with the
patriotic theme to serve as a tribute to our military. In addition, the City would also like to fully
embrace last year’s Oktoberfest theme which featured German style food and music from the
Waterloo German Band.
The City is always looking for volunteers and sponsors to help out with this celebration.
Volunteers are necessary to ensure that the event runs smoothly. Sponsors are needed to help
with this event as it does take a monetary commitment to pull this event together. Because of
this, sponsorship is what helps bring this event directly to our seniors in the community. One of
the nice things about the sponsorship program is that it not only allows you to introduce your
business to the senior community, but it also gives the seniors a chance to learn more about
your business.
The City of Weldon Spring began hosting Senior Day as a way to introduce Senior Citizens to
our City Park. As time progressed it has become more of an appreciation day featuring
sponsors who specialize in services or products geared towards our senior community. “Senior
Day is a great way for senior citizens within the community to interact with each other and have
fun,” said Mayor of Weldon Spring, Don Licklider.
Weldon Spring is a city located within St. Charles County, Missouri. The city is named after
John Weldon, the first settler of the area, who in 1790 built a log home overlooking the spring
which bears his name. According to the 2010 census, there are 5,443 people living in the city.
